“Keeping an Open Mind”
Lightning striking the middle of a whirlpool
I see the colors, and they’re meaningful
You, like a geyser, shoot straight up into the sky
I, like a soap opera star, fall to the floor and cry
You see the meanings in all sorts of things
I see the meanings when you point them out to me
It’s not always as easy as A, B, C
But I feel a new sense of wonder sprouting forth from me
Split like an atom that’s been playing with superglue
Still having trouble deciphering between one and two
A paradise may be waiting, but our eyes remain closed
We shouldn’t always hold on to what we think we know
We leave each other’s words hanging in thin air
It may be the easy way, but it isn’t all that fair
Our backs face each other, tied to a chair
Cut the rope and let’s see if the chairs take us elsewhere
