Little Wing is a Reynolds R21 that was modified by one of the previous owners Dan Cassina in 1992. Dan modified the Reynolds for sailing and racing of off the Sea of Cortez. Pictures from top to bottom of Little Wing in Ventura CA, while getting ready for a test sail on a lovely sunny day in Janurary 2003. Steve the previous owner showning me how set the sails and rigging. Steve provided me some good pictures here of the catamaran at its last home before I took it home to Seattle WA.
The last picture is of Dan, who re-built this Reynolds R21 from the stock model to the current custom design. Dan later sold the boat to his friend Rocket who had if for a few years and later sold it to Steve in 1998. Dan here is standing next to his own Custom Cat, which he pretty much built all himself in about ten months. He liked the Reynolds R21 so much he built a 36ft version. I was lucky enough to talk to Dan about the Reynolds R21 and his own catamaran just north of San Diego before looking at Little Wing in Ventura.
Randy Reynolds first produced these catamarans in the late 1970's and his current model is a 33ft verison at www.r33.com This model is 2" wider than stock version and has a rotating mast with a full set of modified Tornado sails.
Little Wing was named after a song by Jimi Hendrix
