Here's my story about meeting Siri and her Dad
Nicole and I pushed our way to the railing of the stands- we had to push past all these little girls with their Sharpies and programs. There, the team was watching the game, listening to music, and just having a good time! Siri walks down the little path to get closer to the field. She has her backpack with her and is talking on the phone to a very lucky person (anyone who gets to talk to Siri is very lucky in my book!). After shouting out to some other players, I notice that Siri is taking picture of the game with some camera man's camera. I'm a little confused, but I think it's cool. Mabe she majored in photography? I don't remember reading about that. After a minute or two she points the camera up at the crowd of mostly girls that have flocked to the area of the stands nearest to the team. I start to wave to her and she points the camera up at Nicole and I (we think). So, of course, we smile. I hope the picture turns out good! Well, after a while the team goes back to the locker room
Skip to half-time. My dad has just gotten back to our seats (front row, behind the USA bench) with the pizza. I'm here with a piece of pizza in my hand, about to take a bite, when this camera person walks up to me. Dad must have told this guy to take our picture while he was getting out pizza. (Random people had been coming up to us and taking our picture, because of our hair). He asks me "Are you Maria? With the website?" Of course I say yes, but then I ask him who he is. He holds up his press pass so that I can see his name, it reads: Steve Mullinix. "oh my gosh! It's you!" It's Siri's dad! He points his camera up at me, and I grab my SIRIous soccer for SIRIous fans poster and smile! Then I say, "make sure to tell Siri where I am so she can see my sign!" and he responds with, "don't worry, she'll see it." hmmm, what does that mean? So that was my encounter with Siri's dad. I was freaking out for a few minutes!
Skip to after the game now. I'm here holding my SIRIous soccer for SIRIous fans sign up and hoping that Siri will see it! The team takes what feels like forever to stretch and slowly make their way towards the fans. None of them come our way! Lilly goes just to the right of us and works her way down the other direction. Mia goes just to the left of us and goes the other direction. I start to stress out what if NOBODY comes our way?! Then my heart sinks. I see Siri walking towards the locker room with Jen. Millie has also gone off to another part of the stadium. My two favorite players have left me! But then! I see Siri come back out, and she has changed her shirt. I hold up my sign again, hoping that she'll see it! She starts to walk towards the team's bench, which is in front of where we are standing! I get all excited and I shout to her. I have my dad shout as well. I have to get her attention, I just HAVE to! She walks right to me! She holds up her hand, which contains her golves! Oh my God! Siri Mullinix is giving me her GLOVES! This stuff doesn't happen to me, it happens to Elaine or Yvonne! Not Maria! I totally start to freak out and say "oh my God, oh my God, thank you so much! Oh my God! Thank you, thank you, thank you! Oh my God!" She laughs and smiles and signs autographs and smiles and laughs some more (see my pictures!). I'm sure I have this silly grin on my face! Nicole is almost as excited as I am! I notice that Siri has signs both of the gloves (see pictures)! She also signs my post, which I was going to give her. Instead, I decide to make her something else when I get home.
So, that's my Siri experience!!! I have NO idea how Siri's dad found me! I'm sure that he told Siri where I was, and that's how she found me. Also, the camera man whose camera Siri was using was her dad.
