Our Outing in Batu Tiga Speed Way Circuit!! Feb 11 2001 ! ! !
We first gathered outside the Pits, at the participants' car park. There were quite a number of us. I saw our usual Klang dudes in their AE110, all with the BlackTop 20V under the hood. One of which, had 2 chromed exhaust at each side.. with stainless steel piping.. it looked bad assed!! especially with its fiery metallic red paint under the sun! Then there was the Klang 20V brothers.. Mr Lee and his buddy.. both in Silver AE110s.. impressive.. Parked along side with them.. was a metallic gun metal EE90.. mysteriously with an intercooler infront.. Turbo?? Later, I was introduced to that dude.. which (please forgive me) I absolutely forgotten what his name was.. Sorry.. He popped the hood.. and there it was.. and Air Research Turbine sitting there... HKS BOV.. etc.. It's a 4AGE - 16V Turbo! wow! It runs on a mere 0.3 bar of boost.. but it looks MEAN! hehe..
AhWah's Car was there as usual.. the 16V 4AGE (AE92).. looking as mean as ever.. and he brought a friend along in a Nissan Sentra with an SR20 engine powerplant.. I-M-P-R-E-S-S-I-V-E-! ! Parked next to us was a bunch of Civics Track cars.. doing their last minute tuning .. revs.. etc..
The gathering at Batu Tiga Speedway Circuit on the 11th Feb 2001 was in fact an exciting event. We the 4AG-ers had only about 10 cars or so on the pits because mos, but, there was shit loads of other cars there that day. There were Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution 3, 4, 5.. etc.. Subaru Impreza WRX.. Nissan Skyline GTR-33, Mazda RX-7 Efini.. Civics... Mitsubishi Galant with EVO 2 Engine inside.. Sentra with SR20... BMW 3 Series with 1JZ! .. and of coz... our Proton Track cars..
It was so packed with cars that day, even the pits weren't enough for them to park, they had to park at the side of the pits, the grass area, and also the extra parking area near the pits.. imagine!! it was like an automobile Night Market!! It really was an impressive turnout.
Met some really interesting people there. Bumped into an old acquaintance, Ivan Khong, whom was a client for my ex-employers, and also , a hardcore race driver ... He was participating that day too!! in his red Impreza WRX, and his brother Ian was in the race too.. so was his dad.. the famous Y.S Khong.. the Malaysian Toyota Rally Driver of the 80's ! ! the Hachiruke days!!!
As I walked along the pits, I saw an interesting AE82, with blow off valve sounds.. 4AGTE perhaps?!? That car is owned by a dude called Jeff.. who works for the Type R Used Parts Dealers. Apparently, he has a 4E-FTE inside, with shit loads of "EXTRA" thingies inside... Blitz boost controller, S-AFC, etc... not bad if I should put it, it made some impressive runs on the grand stand straights. His comrades consists of some heavy duty stuffs.. the previously mentioned Gallant with EVO2 planted in.. a fire farting Wira AeroBack with an EVO 3 engine perhaps?? IT PAYS TO WORK IN AN USED AUTO PARTS ESTABLISHMENT!!!! hmm... wonder if they are looking for any dudes to maintain their IT stuff.. hehe
In the next pits, parked an AE110 with a big freaking intercooler in front.. OoOOoo.. Turbo!! , a beautiful-sight-for-sore-eyes Levin 111!!!, 2 black EP82 Starlets... and etc... The drivers stood tall and proud in their blue with black fonts uniform.... trust me, the proudness was overwhelming... so overwhelming that it somewhat prevented me from mingling with them, don't get me wrong.. I ain't got no qualms with pride filled dudes.. just that, it puts me off? hehe.. no offense if u are one of the dudes who were amongst them.. but I really got to hand it to them, the impression was there... and the cars looked good.. they came with a bunch of dudes in Supras and other heavy artilleries.
Then, came the Civics.. in their ever expensive looking stuffs.. dudes in heavily dyed blond hairs... in mechanic suit.. toiling around the cars.. looking very professional... wow.. impressive.. that's all I have to say.. Frankly, these dudes and their cars are really impressive, whether by appearance, or by performance... and yes.. they do have the chicks with them too..!
There was a turbocharged EK9.. looks impressive.. but I don't know whether it's the driver's intention NOT to push the car, or the car's power is just tuned for a mild nature because the way the car ran on the straights.. it just doesn't create the impression that it's fast, unlike the Gallant with EVO2 in it which pulled away from a track car Civic and a Putra Turbo as if they were stationary on the track.. now dat's wat i call.. B-A-D A-S-S-E-D ! !
The EK with the decal number 55 pasted on it was also fast.. really fast.. faster than some turbocharged cars on the straights... and so was the Mini Cooper with a VTEC engine in it.. it was fast too!! the way it charged down the straights.. it was like a little chick just hatched from its egg and ran around like it was on steroid!! Hell it was fast!
As the events were underway, a deep throat exhaust sound was heard.. all eyes turned towards that direction. There it was, a blue Nissan Skyline GTR-33. Fantastic sight... fantastic sound, exhilarating.. breath taking.. 4 inch HKS Hyper N1.. etc.. but sad to say, the driver doesn't match the car. It was a scrawny looking teenager who stuck his head so far front towards the windscreen so that the crowd can get a view of his face chewing bubble gum and donning a pair of expensive looking eyewear.... this is so because the side windows of the GTR is somewhat too dark with tint to allow people to catch a glimpse of his face.... heh.. what an extreme put off.. but then again.. it's his car.. his show... his pride... and his stride rite? heh.. RICEY!!! dat's all i've gotta say... but, still, the car was perfect.. Wish My DAD gave me such a present.. ahhahaahah!!!
Rain fell shortly after, perhaps it was weeping towards the mysterious justification of a kid with a Skyline, and us, the working class dudes, toiling the soil day and night, soaking the earth with our sweat and blood.. and yet, the only skyline we get to own... is the one above us... the outline of the sky... skyline... but I guess that is good enough for me... once in awhile, we stare towards the heavens... and dreams of what we must achieve.. and count our blessings for the goals that we have already achieved so far... *Thank you GOD*
Anyways, enuff of kid bashing.. muahaahha.. da hell with kiddie fucks.. My friend came in his mini Daihatsu Mira L200 Turbocharge.. though his car might be somewhat overshadowed by the giants that were preset that day, I must say, I am quite impressed by his valor and his spirit of competition. His name's Edward. He and an other friend, a fellow 4AG comrade in a Corona with an ST205 - 3SGTE powerhouse by the name of Kevin still went in to lap the track even though it was raining. While completing lap 1, infront of Edward was Ivan in his WRX, for the first time, Edward and Joon ( Edward's Co-Driver ) was able to feast their eyes on an all wheel drift.. Ivan's WRX drifted through the first grand stand corner and soon after... disappeared beyond their sights.. B-R-E-A-T-H-T-A-K-I-N-G-!-! and quotes Joon "I'll never forget that sight.. EVER!" .
Behind them were the Green Satria from Jeff's Group, the PPR Group. Before the corner, it downshifted... and out it goes.. a long yellowish flame farted out of the exhaust... DAMN I wish my car can do that.. hehehe..
Edward and Kevin soon returned to the pits. There they rested, and the Free-Running event were called off due to the heavy down pour. When the rain subsided, the free-running event resumed. I had the opportunity to sit with Kevin in his 3SGTE Corona. WOW! adrenalin was pumping like mad! heh.. and following behind was Edward.
When we entered the track, I noticed that the surface of the track is really wet! and aqua planning is inevitable. We took the first corner, the car understeered abit.. we continue chatting... 2nd corner... and into an S curve.. the car was like.. all over the track.. remember, this car has an ST205 3S-GTE in it, and the suspension is of stock setup! and finally, we were on the rear straights of the track.. we overtook a track car.. (simple) then.. there was a slight curve to the right.. we overtook a kancil... but... B.U.T ! ! ! ! ! Kev over did it.. he forgot to downshift.. and the car.. oversteered to the right... he countered it with a left turn... the car swerved to the left..by 90'... then.. he countered it back with a right.. in order to straighten things up.. but the car spun at an 180' clockwise!!! and into the sand pit.. at 150km/h! .. I swear I was gonna die ... my balls were propelled to my throat.. during the entire ordeal.. I was like.. shit.. I'm gonna die... . this is it... bye mom.. bye dad... bye whatever.. I felt my balls sprung up to my throat... but fortunately... the car did not topple.. Coronas are one fuckin heavy car.. lucky for me.. lucky for Kev.. heh.. Edward appeared.. and slowed down to a stop.. allowing others to overtake so that he can see if we were ok. Kev's car manage to be driven out of the sand pit.. and off we go again... The pit entrance was just meters ahead.. I thought by now, Kev would have been scared stiff and retire to the pits.. coz I myself was as stiff as a dick with Pamela Anderson around.. BUT HE DIDNT!!! he continued onto Lap 2! FUCK! again.. the phrase... I'M GONNA DIE!!! I'M GONNA MOTHERFUCKIN DIE!!! came into my mind.. but i kept my cool .. I continued my silence.. which is somewhat rare.. to those who knows me .. knows what I'm saying.. ;)
Tearing down the grand stand straights after the S-curve in front of the Pit entrance was exhilarating .. I must hand it to 3SGTE.. the engine is extremely powerful.... by then, I've regained my composure, though I still feel like puking.. then, at the Shell Corner.. we saw a Civic track car spun out into the sand pit... and.. after that.. the White Tommi Hakkinen Edition of EVO6 spun 180'!! ... and after that.. a green Proton Satria track car also spun out!! by that time.. the red flag was waved.. and the race was over.. By the time we reached the pit entrance, the reason why the race was called off was clear.. There it was, a dark navy blue Corolla SEG spun out into the sand pit and was stuck! It was Danny's car.. damn! heheh. Luckily he and the car pulled through unscratched... Thank heavens..
In the pits, we saw the Beemer with the 1Jz with the front and rear bumpers totally ripped off, apparently it crashed during the first lap after the grand stand straights. ... One black EVO6 with roll cage and stuffs... with damaged front lights and bumper... fenders.. The proud AE110 3SGTE with damaged front bumper, parking lights and fender... and other shit loads of cars damaged.. sigh.. what a sad day for them it was...
Later, we assembled in the pit... and called it a day.. and adjourned home.......
Pheww... Luckily no one was hurt at that day...
The pictorials will be updated later.. Sorry for the delay...
