Even though she is one of my favourite characters, I still don't think her death should be prevented or something if there is a re-make of FF7. I think she should still die, and stay dead, until when she comes back at the end of the game.
Why?
Because, to be honest, I never really realised how good a character Aeris was until she died. It was only when I played the game again, knowing she was going to die that I payed more attention to her character, and realised how good she was. It also makes the game more dramatic that way, (even though I agree ff7 couldn't get any more dramatic). If she stayed alive, and Sephiroth didn't kill her, then it would cut the game a little bit short. What I mean is Avalanche wouldn't have gone on the mission to sought the truth about why Aeris had run off to the city. She could have just told them.
Also, Aeris died for a very good reason. Her death was crutial to the plot.
As much as I love Aeris, I think she should just be kept dead, until the end of the game.
