The Mini Lop
The Mini Lop was developed in German around 1972.  Bob Herschbach first exhibited a pair at the 1974 A.R.B.A. and at the time there was little interest in the new breed.  Part of the problem was the original name.  The "Klein Widder,"  now known as the mini lop, was made popular by a few breeders and the name was changed to its present form.  In 1980 it was recognized as a breed and was chartered as a National Club that same year.
The mini lop is a medium sized breed that has massive, thick set, heavily muscled body.  The body is well rounded and has a slight taper from the heivier hindquarters to the shoulders.  The mini lop should have equal depth and width.  It should have a bold head set close to the shoulders with a very short neck.  The head should be wider and bolder in the bucks.  Our mini lops come in a variety of colors.  Every litter can be different and it is like waiting for a christmas present not knowing what you will get each time.
Mini Lops make great pets.  They are very gentle and easy to work with.  They also make great mothers.  Mini Lops can be great producers, having litters of 6-8 kits in a litter.  However, with anything in nature you are always going to get one mini that goes against the norm.  But over all they are just a great breed all around.
