| Braved of the battles, son of Tearlach the mighty.One day stood by his fathers side on the hight of asrall,he saw a strange maiden coming towards him, "from whence comest thou fair maiden?" Said Bravd. "I come from the plains of the ever liveing" she said "There where there is nether death nor sin,there where we keep holiday away,nor need we held from any in our joy,and in all our plaesure we have no strife and because we have our homes in the green hills,men call us the hill folk" |

| Tearlach the king and all with him wonderd to hear a vioce when they saw no one.For aprart from bravd non saw the faerie maiden. "To whom art thou talking my son" said the king, The miaden answerd "Bravd speaks to a young fair maiden whom nether death nor age awaits.I love bravd and now i call him away to the land of pleasure and plenty,to Fandrell where Tiamon is king for aye,nor has there been complaint or sorrow in that land since he has held the kingship,oh come with me bravd of the battles a faerie crown awaits thee to grace thy comely face and thy royal form,come and never shall thy comeliness fade nor thy youth till the last day og judgment." The king in fear at what he heard called alowed to his high druid Valdagar by name. " oh Valdagar of the many spells and of the cunning magic,i call apon thy aid,a task is upon me to great for all my skill and wit,greater than any since i seized kingship,a faerie maiden unseen would take my son from me,if thee help me not he will be taken by her woman's whiles and witchary" |

| So Valdagar the high druid stood forth ans chanted his spells towards where the voice had been heard,and non heard her voice again,nor did Bravd see her,only as she vanished did she through an apple to bravd, For a whole month from that day,Bravd would eat nor drink nothing but thee apple and as he ate it grow again and always kept whole,and as the apple grow a yearning and longing grow within bravd for the faerie maiden. On the last day of the month Bravd stood by his fathers side on the plain of Arconiea,and again he saw the maiden coming towards him. And again she spoke to him "Tis a glorious place that Bravd holds among short lived mortals awaiting death,but now the faerie folk of life the ever living ones beg and bid you come to Fandrell,for they have learned to know you,seeing thy in thy home among thy dear ones" When Tearlach the king heard the maidens voice he called to his men and said " summon swift my high druid valdagar,for i see she has again this day the power of speech" The maiden said "oh mighty Tearlach fighter of a hundrded fights your druids power is little loved,it has little honer in your mighty land,peopled with so many of the upright,when the law will come it will do away with druids magic spells that come from the lips of false black demon" Then Tearlach saw that since the maiden came,bravd his son spoke to non thou they spoke to him,so Tearlach said to him " is it to your mind what this maiden says my son?" "Tis hard apoun me" said Bravd " I love my own folk above all things but yet a longing sits on me and a love grows within my heart for the maiden fair" When the faeire maiden heard this she answerd " the mighty sea is not so strong as the waves of longing.Come with me Bravd my love in my curragh the gleming,straight-gliding crystal canoe.There is another land of joyous wonders to all that seek it,if thou wilit we can seek it and live alone together in joy" When the faeire maid ceased to speek Bravd of the battles rushed from them and sprang into the curragh. Then the king and court saw it glide away over the bright sea towards the seting sun,away and away till the eye could see it no more,And Bravd and his faeire love went there way on the sea, and no more where they seen or heard by mortal men...... |
