night after restless night

darkness falls upon me

surrounds me

drowns me

and yet I toss and turn

unsettled

incomplete

every time I close my eyes

I smell you on the pillow

that lays right next to me

I feel your body

pressed against mine

I taste your lips

gently glazing over mine

butterflies flutter in my stomach

my minds spins out of control

my heart aches in my chest

tears fill my sullen blue eyes

my arms are empty

because none of this is real

they’re just memories

all I have left of you

and if I never whispered

this softly in your ear

I’d regret it for the rest of my existence…
