soft sighs

and gentle cries

take the smile

from my baby face

as ideas of what’s to come

linger in my thoughts

weigh on my mind

the sorrow overcomes me

at the mere suggestion

of having to say goodbye

even just temporarily

the idea of you not there

every day, making me smile

hearing your voice

whispering that you love me

softly into my ear

after making love to me for hours

and holding me closely

the feeling of never wanting to let go

washes over me, again and again

separation was never an existing issue

and now, we have no choice

but my love, I vowed to you

from day one and every day forward

to love you forever with all that I am

and to never, not ever

say goodbye
