FRANKIE ONG BATA President 2003-2004 SSEAYP International Philippines |
|
Warm greetings to our growing SSEAYP
Family
and welcome to the official SIP website.
I would like to invite everyone to browse
through our website recently reconstructed by a team of ex-PPYs. Though not
100% complete, I hope a few clicks in the Batch Directory would encourage the 30
batches of PYs across Southeast Asia and Japan to reconnect with their PPY
batchmates. Click on the icon – Songs
Across the Seas,
turn on your speakers and sing again our treasured SSEAYP songs, specially
our anthem – Nippon Maru. I
assure you that this is the easiest way to re-open the floodgates of
memories. I request all SIP members not just to help
fill in the gaps and update corrections in our Directory but to jumpstart the
contribution of articles in our section - Stories Told and Retold. Share your unforgettable experiences on
board and during port-of-call activities. Scan and e-mail your favorite pictures too
so that we can include them in our Living Gallery. Our first theme is Remembering
Nippon Maru. We want to recall how the first Nippon
Maru looked like and how it has evolved into the
second and into the present ship. This
call for pictures is also open for the whole SSEAYP Family. As incumbent SIP President, I call on all
SIP members to maximize the use of this website in knowing and supporting
existing SIP projects. I encourage all
to check out our Most Recent Projects.
The SIP Board are all ears to hear
recommendations for future projects.
These can be either national, regional, provincial or municipal in
scope. All must aim to serve the
country’s needs, especially the youth sector, most especially the
youth-at-risk. Update us with your
respective batch projects too. As unity and communication are paramount in
the success of any organization, I request that SIP members visit the Links and connect their
respective organization’s website for better coordination in the future. Personal blogs are also welcome. Though we exist in a cyberworld already, we
still crave for a more personal connection.
Nothing beats mingling with real PYs though virtual PYs would suffice
at times. So please support the
Country Program of the 31st SSEAYP on September 14-17, 2004 (Tuesday-Friday).
Join the Reunion On-Board and exercise your right to vote in the SIP Board
Elections on September 16, 2004. Check your e-mail for more information. To all SIP members and the larger SSEAYP
Family, we ask for your understanding for whatever technical bugs you might
encounter in this website. We promise
to consistently update and improve
this site. We will be waiting for your
responses, comments and suggestions. In behalf of the SIP Board 2003-2004 and
the SIP Web Team, happy browsing!
