The interior of the main
Šipan Valley is a green belt of rich limy
earth stretching well over 7 km. Its beautiful
landscape attracts those interested in nature and history. During the Autumn & Winter, the centre of it gets flooded making a small lake. Since the Valley is protected by hills from open sea, the winds never penetrate the islands core making it one of the warmest places on the Dubrovnik Riviera. This also makes it, abundant in Flora and Fauna (including a large variety of birds that pass yearly during the migration season).
