Mastermind of attacks on Ali Raza/Haydri Mosques, LJ/SSP activist, Gul Hasan arrested in Karachi

KARACHI, June 14: An anti-terrorism court on Monday remanded the alleged mastermind of recent bomb blasts in two Shia mosques, granting a 14-day custody to police for interrogation.
Judge Aley Maqbool Rizvi of the ATC-1 gave Gul Hasan alias Ali Haider in police custody and ordered the investigation officer to produce the suspect in court on June 28.
The Mithadar police had sought a 14-day custody of the suspect, a member of the Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, in the case pertaining to the Hyderi Mosque blast on May 7.According to remand papers, four LJ activists were still absconding in the case. They were Asif Choto, Abdul Salam alias Wazeer Khan, Qasim alias Fahad and Mufti Ubaid. The suicide bomber was identified as constable Akbar Niazi.
The Jamshed Quarters police, in the meantime, had sought the remand of Gul Hasan in the Imambargah blast case, which occurred on May 31.
The suicide attack in the imambargah was carried out by Muhammad Ali. Besides, the suspect was also remanded for interrogation in a case pertaining to the possession of a TT pistol.

Compensation cheques for blast victims issued

KARACHI: Sindh Government has issued cheques of
compensation for victims of bomb blasts at Hyderi and Ali Raza mosques. In
this regard the City Government has appointed Deputy District Officer
Mohammed Ali Shah as Coordinating Officer having office in the former
Commissioner�s Office. In a communication issued from the DCO office, the
heirs of deceased in two incidents as well as the injured have been asked to
receive their cheques from the concerned officer during office hours. They
have been advised to bring the national identity card, authority letter and
related documents with them for receiving the cheques.
