Dr. Ibn-e-Hassan and shopkeeper Syed Wajeeh Haider shot dead in Karachi

KARACHI: Unidentified armed men killed a doctor in Malir area of Karachi on Saturday. The incident caused disturbances in the area as the infuriated people burnt tyres and pelted stones over the running traffic to protest the incident.

Dr. Ibn-e-Hassan 45, along with his wife was going to his clinic from his residence at Saudabad in a car. Some unidentified armed men started firing over his car at Malir-15 area at the National Highway near his clinic critically injuring him. He was rushed to the Liaquat National Hospital where he succumbed to the injuries, Town Police Officer Malir Altaf Leghari said.

Police get remand of Lashkar-i-Jhangvi activist

KARACHI, Feb 26: The two activists of the banned organization of Lashkar-i-Jhangvi, arrested on Feb 17, were remanded in police custody for interrogation in the Dr Ibne Hasan murder case.

Mohammad Athar alias Khalid Memon, chief of the banned organization's Sindh chapter, and Sajid Jabbar alias Budha had been arrested in a raid at a house in Nazimabad No.3. A huge cache of arms and ammunition were also seized from them.

Police produced them in the court of judicial magistrate, Malir, Zeeshan Akhtar, in the doctor's murder case. The JM remanded them in the police custody till Feb 28. The two activists were earlier remanded in police custody on Feb 18.

The two were also produced in another court of judicial magistrate, who remanded them in the police custody for inte-rrogation in a case pertaining to the seizure of arms from them.
