VEHARI, Oct 19 2001: Two Shias were shot dead here on Friday in what seems to be
targeted killings.
According to details, Ahmad Yar Khichi, uncle of PML's suspended MNA Dilawar
Khan Khichi and suspended district Nazim Mumtaz Khan Khichi, was on his way
to Vehari after buying crop seeds from Khanewal when four armed people in a
car (LHX-6337) opened fire on him near Wijhyan Wala stop, on the Khanewal
Road. He died on the spot while his driver sustained injuries. The injured
was taken to the Multan Nishtar Hospital.
The same gang later shot dead Tehrik-i-Jaffria scholar Nazir Ahmad Abbas
when he was in his shop in Chak 62/WB on the same road, some five kilometres
from here. Police are investigating.
