KARACHI: Unknown assailants shot dead the chief of Trust Imambargah-e-Rizviya and activist of Tehrik-e-Jafferiya Pakistan (TJP) and injured his wife seriously on Eid day. The killers, while leaving also killed a neighbor of the religious leader who had seen them committing the crime. After the incident, the old-age mother of TJP activist died of cardiac arrest when she heard about the assassination of her son.

The sources said that four or five armed terrorists knocked at the door of TJP activist, Muslim Hussain, 50, in Sector 11, Madina Colony near Irani Camp, within Mominabad police jurisdiction. As soon as Muslim came out they opened fire injuring him and his wife, Fiza Bibi, seriously.

The assailants, while leaving, noticed that Muslim's neighbour Kamal Hussain had seen them committing crime and that could be a danger to them, also killed him on the spot. The area people found Muslim and his wife Fiza wounded critically and Kamal dead. They rushed them to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, however, Muslim died on way to hospital while his wife was admitted.

After the incident, Bilqistan Bibi, 70-year-old mother of Muslim, when came to know about the killing of her son, received a fatal shock and died.

Following the incident of the killings, tension gripped the entire vicinity of Orangi Town. Enraged residents gathered at various spots of the locality while some of them pelted stones on the vehicles and forced shopkeepers of the area to pull their shutters down.

Heavy contingents of police and Rangers reached the area and dispersed the agitating crowd. However, normalcy did not return to the area till late on Saturday, the residents claimed. Residents also alleged that during both the Eid days, the vicinity was presenting a deserted look and a curfew like situation.

Muslim Hussain, the residents said, was the father of three sons and two daughters. Police have registered two FIRs, one on the complaint of TJP's Karachi chief, SM Haider, against Zahid, Murad and their three or four accomplices for killing Muslim Hussain and injuring his wife. The other FIR was registered on the complain of Kamal's brother.
