24-05-2000

HYDERABAD: President Tehreek-e-Jafferia Pakistan Hyderabad Division Allama Altaf Hussain Al-Hussaini, while condemning the removal of an Alam from Imambargah Naqvi, Pathan Colony, has given 48-hour ultimatum to the Cantonment Board, owners of a petrol pump and former councillor of the Cantonment Board for its restoration. Addressing a press conference at the Hyderabad Press Club along with Syed Mehboob Ali Shah Jehanian, Syed Tajammul Hussain Shah Naqvi and others, he said the dismantling of Alam-e-Abbas had hurt the feelings of the Shia community. He said the authorities of Cantonment Board dismantled the Alam from near a petrol pump on the main Pathan Colony Road, which was established 20 years ago on a plot which was issued on the name of one Ghulam Ali. He said the act was aimed at creating sectarian strife. He demanded of the higher authorities to look into the matter and re-establish the Alam at same place.
