Murderer awarded death sentence

RAWALPINDI, Oct 14: The Special Anti-Terrorist Court (ATC) II on Saturday awarded death sentence to an accused in Aun Mohammad Rizvi murder case.

The judge ATC II Chaudhry Asad Raza while announcing verdict in the case at Adiayala Jail awarded death sentence to accused Mohammad Nawaz S/o Mian Mohammad Sarwar.

The accused had also been directed to pay Rs 300,000 to the family members of the deceased as compensation. In case of non-payment of compensation, the accused would have to undergo six months rigorous imprisonment (RI).

The accused had also been awarded 10 years RI and Rs 50,000 fine under Section 449. In case of default, the accused would have to undergo six months RI more.

The ATC awarded seven years RI with Rs 10,000 fine to the other accused Waseem Munir under section 201. In case of non-payment of fine, the accused would have to undergo six months RI more.

According to prosecution the accused armed with sophisticated weapon shot dead Aun Mohammad Rizvi, Controller Programmes, Pakistan Television on Oct 7, 1999 in front of his Satellite Town residence.-APP
