MULTAN: Two Lashkar hitmen held

MULTAN, July 1: Police claim to have arrested two hitmen of the Lashkar-i-Jhangvi here late on Friday night and recovered a hand-grenade, four Kalashnikovs, 664 bullets, one pistol and 16 magazines from their possession.
The Multan CIA SP told newsmen on Saturday that Qari Omar Hayat (with a head-money of Rs 1 million) and Muhammad Nawaz alias Shah Jee were involved in sectarian killings.
They had killed Advocate Farrukh Barjis on April 26, 2000; three Shias on Bosan Road college ground on March 30, 1998; constable Maqbool Husain on Sept 29, 1998; Ijaz Husain in Khanewal on Oct 7, 1998; and their own accomplice, Hafiz Zulfiqar, on Feb 9, 1999, when he refused to provide them financial assistance. They were also involved in a number of dacoities to meet their needs.
The SP claimed that they had confessed that they got training in a Lashkar-i-Jhangvi camp established in Afghanistan.
