Two killed in attack on clinic in Kharadar

KARACHI, May 2 2000: Two people were killed and two others seriously injured when unidentified persons attacked a clinic in Kharadar here on Tuesday night. The residents of the area said four unidentified assailants, armed with automatic weapons, stormed the clinic in a narrow alley of Kharadar and sprayed the people present there with bullets.

Two patients, identified as Mohammad Nawaz and Mohammad Arshad, suffered multiple injuries and died on the spot. The clinic's doctor, Syed Sibtain Hasan Dosa, 50, and his dispenser, Shabbir, 55, sustained serious injuries.

The injured, who had suffered bullet wounds in their heads, were shifted to the Civil Hospital. Later, they were taken to the Liaquat National Hospital and the Aga Khan Hospital.

Soon after the incident, enraged youth took to the streets and set on fire two Mazda wagons and a KESC mobile. They also damaged a petrol pump on G.A. Allana Road.

The fire brigade tenders doused the flames. The police had closed the road for the pedestrians till our going to the press. Enraged youth were seen shouting in frenzy in alleys of the area. They were also seen banging the shutters of the closed shops with sticks.

Tehrik-i-Jafria Pakistan has demanded of the government to arrest all those involved in the attack on the clinic.

The funeral prayers would be held at Jamia Masjid, Kharadar, after Zohr prayers.

ATC acquits SSP man in triple murder case
KARACHI, Nov 27 2000: An anti-terrorism court acquitted on Monday a former worker of the Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan in a triple murder case.

Judge Abdul Hamid Abro of ATC-2 exonerated Qari Nisar Ahmed of the charges of killing Dr. Syed Sibtain Hasan Dosa and two others as the prosecution could not bring on record the incriminating evidence against the accused.

The judge, who expressed dissatisfaction over the course of investigation conducted by investigation officers, DSP Rao Muhammed Iqbal and Inspector Shahabullah, also acquitted two other absconding accused in the case.

Dr. Dosa was killed along with Ali Nawaz and Muhammed Arshad Shahid during an attack on his clinic on May 2.

Syed Nehal Hashmi appeared for Qari Nisar, while Ms Akhtar Rehana was appointed counsel for the two absconding accused.

Hearing in murder case appeal adjourned

KARACHI, July 23 2001: An appellate bench of Sindh High Court on Monday adjourned the hearing of the State's appeal filed against acquittal of Qari Nisar Ahmad, allegedly involved in the murder case of Dr Sibtain Dosani and two others, till August 10.

The bench, comprising Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmani and Justice Faiz Muhammad Qureshi, adjourned the hearing as the AAG Sindh submitted that the notices and non-bailable warrants (NBW) could not be executed to the respondent Qari Nisar. Judge Abdul Hameed Abro of Anti-Terrorism Court-II Karachi had acquitted him from all charges on November 27, 2000.

According to prosecution, complainant Zia Husain lodged an FIR with Kharadar Police Station that three armed men entered into Dr Sibtain's clinic and shot dead the doctor, his dispensers Ali Nawaz and Muhammad Arshad. Police had arrested Qari Nisar on September 7 and on investigation he disclosed his involvement in the case.
