JHANG: Sipah-i-Sahaba Pakistan (SSP) will help the government end sectarian killings in the country. This was announced by the SSP Central President Maulana Azim Tariq here on Monday while addressing a press conference.
Maulana Tariq, while briefing the newsmen about the misdeeds of Nawaz government, blamed it for the spate of terrorism in September. He further said that the terrorism was backed by some foreign anti-Pakistan forces. "Both Benazir and Nawaz have termed the SSP as terrorist organization," he said and hoped the present government would avoid this practice.
Terming Nawaz government as undemocratic, the SSP chief demanded the government first clear the mess created in the last 50 years and then resort to democracy. He also demanded the officers responsible for fake police encounters should be suspended so that the SSP could take them to the courts of law.
Talking about military takeover on October 12, he said the army was forced to take action as previous government's wrong policies had brought the country on the verge of economic and political disaster.
Appreciating the patriotic role of Gen Pervaiz Musharraf, Tariq said the army action would bring in far-reaching and positive changes for the country. About the arrest of Nawaz Sharif, the SSP chief said the deposed PM was now facing the trial in same courts which he created to victimize the opposition forces.
