Lahore High Court hears Naqvis' case
LAHORE, Aug 16 2001: There is irrefutable evidence on record against the accused in the Sialkot sectarian killings, Advocate-General Maqbool Ilahi Malik submitted before a three-member bench of the Supreme Court here on Thursday.

He said the accused appellants - Haroon Rashid and Imran Ahmad - admittedly belonged to the Sipah-i-Sahaba and conceded in their appeal filed from jail that the motive behind the killings was the faith of their victims - Ghulam Baqir Naqvi and Aulad Husain Naqvi.

As for the timing of the incident, he said the Naqvi Medical Store, Sialkot, was a wholesale outlet which supplied medicines to retailers and opened early in the morning for their convenience. The post mortem forensic laboratory reports and the identification parade fully substantiated and corroborated the prosecution case. The appellants' counsel will make his final rebuttal on Friday.
