I'm Floored
A Song Lyric/Poem
I look down at the wood, beneath my feet
At parallel lines that never meet.
Golden tones all along the groove
Knotted inside and scarred and used
Chorus:
I'm losing it, I'm floored.
Now that you're gone, I'm bored.
My mind plays tricks with the things it sees,
I am drifting away, a mote on the breeze.
The cracks widen and I watch the dust fall
Into the blackness beyond the skirting on the wall,
I sink from my chair, I am sucked to the ground
I slip through the gap, I will never be found. (like a coin never found)
Chorus
When the gloom gets accustomed, I open my eyes
I see broken promises, betrayals and lies.
The wasted years lie around piled up high,
With a few exaggerations and a compromise.
Chorus
In the corner of my eye is a shape I think I know,
Something forgotten from long, long ago.
When I dust it off, it glints (like a jewel) in my hand
And it's labelled "MY POTENTIAL" in a type that's quite grand.
From that glint shines a beam that ferries me up
Past the grime underground and the cracks in the floor
And I soar
And I soar
And I soar
Cos I'm loving life now, Yeah I soar
Now that you've left me;- I'm more.
My mind is alive with the things it perceives
And the memory of you (just whispering trees) (is a fading disease)
(And I soar)
