Welcome to the starfighter bay. Most of this area is restricted, so you can onlt access the snub-fighter holographic archive. Better hurry inside before my assassin droids or Krath adepts take an unhealthy fascination in your well being...
A-wing

Designed by Alliance war hero Jan Dodonna and Victory-class Star Destroyer designer Walex Blissex, the wedge-shaped A-wing was the fastest starfighter at the time at the Battle of Endor, and is currently matched in speed only by the KDY A-9 Vigilance Interceptor (the SFS TIE Defender is supposedly faster [LA: True]). The A-wing is armed with two laser cannons, both which can pivot 60 degrees up or down, enabling the pilot to hit targets from an angle. In addition, some A-wings have concussion missile launchers mounted on either side of the ship. These proved useful in the aforementioned Battle of Endor, when an A-wing was able to destroy one of the Super Star Destroyer Executor's shield towers with all twelve of its concussion missiles. This enabled another A-wing, piloted by Arvel Crynyd, to crash into the Executor's bridge, upon which the Super Star Destroyer itself crashed into the Death Star.

Besides the lasers and concussion missiles, A-wings have a built-in sensor jammer, which allows the ship to quickly attack without enemy starfighters being able to retaliate.

The A-wing has its downsides, however. Speed requires low mass, and thus the A-wing is lightly armored, and has a very small shied generator. Added to this is the fact that every component of a A-wing is jammed into the hull, so that after even one hit, the A-wing is damaged or destroyed. In addition, the starfighter's speed requires that it is flown by only the best pilots.

Lady Alex's notes:
Rebel fighter or not, I gotta admit to liking these babies.
I dogfought a few during the war, and these suckers are difficult to hit.
I made sure I got myself a few for my navy, and even keep one for personal use when I feel the need for speed.
Of course, I don't fly stock models unless I have to, and my A-wing has everything upgraded. But I still like the basic model.

  • Manufacturer: Kuat Drive Yards
  • Length: 7.4 meters
  • Crew: 1
  • Passengers: none
  • Hyperdrive Speed: none
  • >
  • Sublight Speed: 12
  • Atmosphere Speed: 1300 kph
  • Weapon: 2 Laser Cannons

Indeed, its top speed is equal to the former and faster than the latter. However, its hull plating is very weak, and can only absorb a few hits before the fighter is disabled. To offset this, the A-9 has laser cannons that are significantly more powerful that most fighters'.
Although the A-9 was supposed to be an Imperial fighter, one of KDY's shipbuilding facilities was turned over to the New Republic after the planet it was located on revolted. Thus, the starfighter was used against the World Devastators in the Battle of Calamari.
Lady Alex's Notes: Hahahahahaha. Who do these guys think they're kidding?
Sure this thing packs a hell of a punch, but it has a real glass jaw.
As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather fly my A-wing than one of these winged guns..I'm a lot safer.

B-wing
  • Name: Slayn & Korpil B-51 B-wing
  • Manufacturer: Verpine Hive Colonies Slayn and Korpil
  • Length: 16.9 meters
  • Crew: 1 (Expanded: 2)
  • Passengers: none (E2: 1)
  • Hyperdrive Speed: x2
  • >
  • Sublight Speed: 6 (Expanded and E2: 7)
  • >
  • Atmosphere Speed: 950 kph
  • Weapons (Configurations vary):
  • Weapon: 1 Gyrhil R-9X Laser Cannon
  • Weapon: 3 ArMek SW-7a Ion Cannons
  • Weapon: 2 Gyrhil 72 Auto-Blasters
  • Weapon: 1 Krupx MG9 Emission-Type Proton Torpedo Launcher
  • >
  • Weapon: 1 Krupx MG9 Proton Torpedo Launcher
  • (The B-wing carries a total of 8 proton torpedoes, which can be fired out of either of the launchers)
The B-wing was designed by Commander Ackbar (later an Admiral) and the Verpine hive colonies Slayn and Korpil, which currently run a pro-New Republic company, called (appropriately enough) Slayn & Korpil. The starfighter was introduced shortly before the Battle of Endor, and was used by the Alliance in that battle. The B-wing itself was originally conceived as a way for the Alliance to attack enemy capital ships without their own capital ships. Thus, the B-wing has a variety of weapons, including a laser cannon, ion cannons, and proton torpedoes. However, due to the mass of these weapons, the B-wing is significantly slower than most starfighters. Newer B-wings, such as the Expanded and Expanded/2, are faster and can carry two people (the second person as either a gunner or a passenger).
Lady Alex's Notes:
Well, if you're looking for an old warhorse, the B-wing is a big hefty mean motor scooter.
Personally, I don't like the things. My idea of space combat is not being hit, rather than being able to take it.
Still, this ship can be useful to have, so I have a few in my navy.

CloakShape Fighter
  • Name: Kuat Systems Engineering CloakShape Fighter
  • Manufacturer: Kuat Systems Engineering
  • Length: 15 meters
  • Crew:1(+1 R1 droid)
  • Passengers: none
  • Hyperdrive Speed: none (x3 with add-on hyperdrive sled)
  • Sublight Speed: 6
  • Atmosphere Speed: 950 kph
  • Weapons (Configurations vary):
  • Weapon: 2 Laser Cannons
  • >
  • Weapon: 2 Concussion Missile Launchers
The CloakShape is a very old fighter designed by Kuat Systems Engineering, a division of Kuat Drive Yards. It was designed to be very modifiable, and thus few CloakShapes have retained their original configuration. In addition, many companies produce specialized modification kits, such as add-on tailfins or hyperdrive sleds.
Lady Alex's Notes:
Very old fighter...Do I need to say any more? These things are deathtraps. I wouldn't be caught live flying one. Still, they are better than a TIE/in.

E-wing
  • Name: FreiTek E-wing
  • Manufacturer: FreiTek, Inc.
  • Length: 11.2 meters
  • Crew: 1 + 1 R7 astromech droid
  • Passengers: none
  • Hyperdrive Speed: x2
  • Sublight Speed: 11
  • Atmosphere Speed: 1300 kph
  • Weapon: 3 Heavy Blaster Cannons
  • Weapon: 1 Proton Torpedo Launcher (16 torpedoes)
The E-wing, first used during the Battle of Calamari, was designed by the same ex-Incom engineers who designed the X-wing. The vaguely E-shaped starfighter was considered at its introduction to the the best starfighter available. It has the speed of a TIE Interceptor, and has both high-power heavy blaster cannons, and an unprecedented 16 proton torpedoes.
However, the blaster cannons are very prone to failure, due to the use of synthetic blaster gas. In addition, the starfighter has a relatively slow hyperdrive.
Lady Alex's notes
Sometimes I wonder if the Rebel/Republic are trying for the whole alphabet.
As far as the E-wing goes, it's a good starfighter, but it has too many flaws to be able to compare to other good starfighters. I don't keep any in my Navy, need I elaborate on my thoughts of the E wing?

Hornet Interceptor
  • Name: Tenloss Hornet Interceptor
  • Manufacturer: Tenloss Syndicate
  • Length: 14 meters
  • Crew: 1
  • Passengers: none
  • Hyperdrive Speed: none
  • Sublight Speed: 9
  • Atmosphere Speed: 1150 kph
  • Weapon: 2 Turbocharged Laser Cannons
  • (some configurations have 2 Laser Cannons)
The Hornet Interceptor was designed by rouge engineers for the Tenloss Syndicate, a large criminal organization. The fighter has many unique features, such as turbocharged laser cannons, and a detaching cockpit that can be used as an escape pod. However, the turbocharged laser cannons are so powerful that they can become very unstable after a few uses, so many Hornets have regular laser cannons added.
Lady Alex's Notes:
A swarm of these hornets can give a very nasty sting, but I wouldn't want to be part of the swarm.
One swat could kill a number of hornets...

I-7 Howlrunner
  • Name: Incom I-7 Howlrunner
  • Manufacturer: Incom Corporation
  • Length: 11.4 meters
  • Crew: 1
  • Passengers: 1
  • Hyperdrive Speed: none
  • Sublight Speed: 9
  • Atmosphere Speed: 1300 kph
  • Weapon: 2 Laser Cannons
The I-7 Howlrunner was the first starfighter introduced by Incom since it was nationalized by the Empire (and later presumably "de-nationalized" by the Alliance). It has two laser cannons, and a speed in between the X-wing and TIE fighter. In addition, the I-7 has shield generators, enabling it to fight longer than TIE models. Although it wasn't very popular, some Imperial factions bought and used the I-7.
Lady Alex's notes:
A pretty average orbital fighter. I can't say anything for or against it.
If it's a last ditch stand you're making, these suckers will do pretty good

Hapan Miy'til Fighter
  • Name: Hapan Miy'til Fighter
  • Manufacturer: Hapan Cluster
  • Length: 7.5 meters
  • Crew: 1 + 1 R2 astromech droid
  • Passengers: none
  • Hyperdrive Speed: x1.5
  • Sublight Speed: 9
  • Atmosphere Speed: 1150 kph
  • Weapon: 2 Laser Cannons
  • Weapon: 1 Concussion Missile Launcher
The Hapan Miy'til Fighter is the standard starfighter used in the Hapan cluster of star systems. It is very small and maneuverable, but otherwise is a mediocre ship. However, some Miy'tils may have been fitted with a turbogenerator, which allows them to achieve sublight speeds of up to 16.
Lady Alex's notes:
A ship I've never flown, though the alliance between the Republic and Hapes means I might be able to get ahold of one, for completeness sake.
I fought a few during incursions into the Hapan Cluster, and they hold their own, Like I say, a ship maneuverable enough not to be hit is okay by me

Skipray Blastboat
  • Name: Seinar Fleet Systems GAT-12h Skipray Blastboat
  • Manufacturer: Seinar Fleet Systems
  • Length: 25 meters
  • Crew: 4
  • Passengers: none
  • Hyperdrive Speed: x2
  • Sublight Speed: 8
  • Atmosphere Speed: 1200 kph
  • Weapon: 2 Laser Cannons
  • Weapon: 3 Ion Cannons
  • Weapon: 1 Proton Torpedo Launcher
  • (unknown ammo load; newer 12j carries 12 torpedoes)
  • Weapon: 1 Concussion Missile Launcher
  • (unknown ammo load; newer 12j carries 18 missiles)
Although the SFS Skipray Blastboat is barely larger than a starfighter, it is often considered a capital ship. This is due to a number of factors, including the ship's weapons. It carries 2 laser cannons, three ion cannons, and both a proton torpedo launcher and a concussion missile launcher. In addition, the Skipray has a hyperdrive (a rarity among Imperial starfighters), and requires a crew of four. The armor and shields on the ship are also impressive: unlike TIE fighters, Imperial commanders could send a Skipray into battle and even after intensive attacks, the ship would survive. The GAT-12h Skipray is the most common model; other versions include the GAT-12i and, most recently, the GAT-12j.
Lady Alex's notes:
I love skiprays. When you need big heavy firepower, don't look any further than one of these babies.
Most class these as Capital ships, with good reason, A skipray can hold it's own against smaller capital ships. I have a few in my Navy, and a ship doesn't need a better reference than that.

Scimitar Assault Bomber
  • Name: Sienar Fleet Systems Scimitar Assault Bomber
  • Manufacturer: Seinar Fleet Systems
  • Length: 13.8 meters
  • Crew: 2
  • Passengers: none
  • Hyperdrive Speed: none
  • Sublight Speed: 9
  • Atmosphere Speed: 850 kph,Mark II: 1150 kph)
  • Dive bombing Speed: 1000 kph (Mark II: 1250 kph)
  • Weapon: 2 Laser Cannons
  • Weapon: 8 Concussion Missile Launchers (16 missiles total)
The Scimitar Assault Bomber was first used by Grand Admiral Thrawn to supplement or replace TIE Bombers. Unlike the older ship, the Scimitar (which looks like an elongated and enlarged TIE fighter) is fairly fast, and carries a crew of two. In addition to the standard load of concussion missiles, the ship can carry proton grenades or thermal detonators. A newer version of the craft, the Mark II, was released after Thrawn's death.
Lady Alex's notes:
Hats off to Admiral Thrawn on this piece of engineering, finally someone upgraded the useless TIE bombers, though I know this design was recommended to him(After many other idiot officers passed it off),by a friend of mine. Though bombers are not my thing, I have a squadron of Scimitars in my navy

X-wing
  • Name: Incom T-65 X-wing
  • Manufacturer: Incom Corporation
  • Length: 12.5 meters
  • Crew: 1 + 1 R2 or R5 astromech droid
  • Passengers: none
  • Hyperdrive Speed: x1
  • Sublight Speed: 8
  • Atmosphere Speed: 1050 kph
  • Weapon: 4 Taim & Bak KX9 Laser Cannons
  • Weapon: 2 Krupx MG7 Proton Torpedo Launchers (3 torpedoes each)
Of all the starfighters in the galaxy, the X-wing is without a doubt the most famous. The one-person craft flew in a number of battles, including the Battles of Yavin a Endor. Luke Skywalker destroyed the first Death Star while piloting an X-wing, and Wedge Antilles helped destroy the second Death Star in an X-wing.
The X-wing was designed by Incom Corporation a year or two before the Battle of Yavin. However, the Empire chose to nationalize the company. The X-wing design team, unhappy with this decision, defected to the Alliance, and brought with them the X-wing designs, prototypes, and completed X-wings.
The starfighter itself was, at introduction, fast and well-armed. It carries four laser cannons, and two proton torpedo launchers which hold three torpedoes each. Later models of the X-wing have even more powerful weapons and upgraded speeds. In addition to the pilot, the X-wing holds an Industrial Automaton R2 or R5 astromech driod, which serves and an on-board mechanic and navicomputer for the built-in hyperdrive.
Lady Alex's notes:
I don't think the X-wing needs any other comment, the fact that it can still match up with most new fighters shows how good this design is.
At first introduction, a great deal of Tie Pilots (Myself included) were real angry when we saw these babies in battle. After all, they should have been ours.
Of course now, I own a few squadrons of them, and when not flying my A-wing or my "ghost", I have a personalised X-wing. Hats off to Incom, shame about the descendent designs

Y-wing
  • Name: Koensayr Y-wing
  • Manufacturer: Koensayr
  • Length: 16 meters
  • Crew: 1 or 2 (depending on configuration) + 1 R2 or R4 astromech droid
  • Passengers: none (some configurations carry passengers)
  • Hyperdrive Speed: x1
  • Sublight Speed: 7 (some configurations are faster or slower)
  • Atmosphere Speed: 1000 kph (some configurations are faster or slower)
  • Weapons (Configurations vary):
  • Weapon: 2 Taim & Bak KX5 Laser Cannons
  • (some configurations have 2 Taim & Bak IX4 Laser Cannons)
  • Weapon: 2 ArMek SW-4 Ion Cannons
  • Weapon: 2 Arakyd Flex Tube Proton Torpedo Launchers (8 torpedoes total)
Before the X-wing, the Alliance had the Koensayr Y-wing. This ship was aging at the time of the Battle of Yavin, and was a contemporary of the discontinued Z-95 Headhunter.
Nonetheless, the ship was very sturdy, and played a prominent role in the histories of the Alliance and New Republic.
Like most starfighters, it carries laser cannons and proton torpedoes. In addition, the Y-wing has two ion cannons, which can be used to disable ships without destroying them. The Y-wing had a decent speed when it was released, but is now considered slow when compared with the swift X-wing and the blindingly-fast A-wing.
A variety of Y-wing configurations exist. The BTL-A4 (sometimes referred to as the "Longprobe"), used in the Battle of Yavin, is a one-person fighter, and carries extra sensors.
The BTL-S3 carries both a pilot and gunner.
Lady Alex's notes:
I hate these beasts. I loathe them with every fiber of my dark being.
How anyone survived a battle in these things I will never know.
I have lost count of how many I've shot down over the years. Fly in one at your peril

Z-95 Headhunter
  • Name: Incom/Subpro Z-95 Headhunter
  • Manufacturer: Incom Corporation and Subpro Corporation
  • Length: 11.8 meters
  • Crew: 1
  • Passengers: none
  • Hyperdrive Speed: none (some configurations have a hyperdrive)
  • >
  • Sublight Speed: 7
  • Atmosphere Speed: 1150 kph
  • Weapons (Configurations vary):
  • Weapon: Two Triple-Blasters
  • (some configurations have 2 Taim & Bak KX5 Laser Cannons and 2 Krupx MG5 Concussion Missile Launchers)
The Z-95 Headhunter was one of the most popular starfighters ever.
It was designed by Seti Ashgad before the rise of the Empire, and was available for sale for over thirty years. In addition, even after that time it was widely available. Most militaries with starfighters have used Z-95s at one point, and the Z-95 was the ship of choice for pirates and mercenaries.
The first Headhunter, the Z-95 Mark I, was a twin-engine, swing-wing atmospheric craft.
However, the ship was easily modifiable, and thus ships that were adapted for space travel (including hyperdrive-equipped Z-95s), and ships with better weapons, soon appeared.
Incom and Subpro, the Z-95's manufacturers, also updated the ship every year. Thus, a variety of different Headhunters exist. The Z-95-AF4 was one of the last Z-95s, and includes modern (at the time) weapons and upgraded computer systems. The Z-95 XT Trainer can be used for training new pilots.
Lady Alex's notes:
Heh, I have vaguely fond memories of Z-95s.
The first ship I ever flew in space was a Z-95. Very basic ship, not much use except for training purposes now, but they can still beat a TIE in one on one. I have a few for memories sake, but as for flying them...never again

You may have noticed the lack of TIE and TIE related ships in this guide.
Apart from the Basic TIE/in, which I officially think is one of the worst starfighters ever, you may come up against the rest if you meet my Navy, and I'm damned if I'm telling you about my vessels, especially my custom "Ghost".Tough luck.
