Welcome, seeker of knowledge. So, you wish to know about the history of Lady Alex Darkmasque?
Well, seat yourself, for her story is not a secret, though her powers and mind are. Do not seek to know her from her background. Lady Alex is beyond knowing, beyond all. But listen, and hear how she came to be Mistress of the Krath...
Lady Alex was born upon the world of Corellia, the same homeworld of the smuggler Han Solo, and the Leader of Rogue Squadron, Commander Wedge Antilles. Her family were farmers. happy to live and raise Nerfs. But, upon her 16th birthday, while away in the city, her families farm was the target of a Rebel raid as the terrorists stole food for their cause, in the process murdering Lady Alex's family.
Upon learning this, Lady Alex enlisted in the Imperial Naval Academy, wishing to extract revenge for the death of her family. Though she found the sexism of the Empire daunting, she did not let it bother her, and put up with any and all discrimination sent her way.
Eventually, she graduated, though not at the top of her class. Her scores were the highest, but Imperial prejudice relegated her to the bottom, regardless of her ability. She was transferred to the lowliest, most ill equipped squadron of the Empire, on a backwater world. But as fortune would have it, the backwater world was raided by Rebels, and even though her TIE fighter was woefully under maintained, Lady Alex managed to prevail and fight off the attacking Rebel raiders, saving the lives of many of her incompetent colleagues as well.
This action, though it did not result in any promotion or reward, did bring her to the attention of the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader, who arranged for her to be transferred to his own personal sStar Destroyer, though only as his shuttle pilot. It was while she was serving Lord Vader, that he revealed to her that she was strong in the Force, and should undergoe training to unleash her full strength and abilities.
Wary at first, the then Ensign Alex eventually came to respect and admire Lord Vader, for he was so unlike the majority of Imperial officers, who were unwilling to risk themselves for the sake of their soldiers, which Lord Vader was willing to do. Time after time she watched Lord Vader fly along with his personal squadron, against rebel forces, and sometimes Vader would let her pilot a TIE fighter as well, as his wing'man'.
Eventually accepting Lord Vader's offers to train her in the ways of the Force, Lady Alex soon proved herself a quick and powerful learner. Her anger and hatred towards the Rebellion led her to embrace the Darkside, and soon she grew strong indeed. So strong, that she came to the attention of the Emperor, who insisted on her leaving Vader's service, and continuing her training under him.
Unlike Lord Vader, Palpatine was a cruel and exacting master. Vader treated her with a measure of respect, but Palpatine treated her like a slave. Nor did she respect Palpatine the way she had Vader. He was a politician, not a warrior. He risked nothing. However, with the Master of the Darkside teaching her, Lady Alex's power grew great indeed. Eventually, she was awarded the title of Dark Jedi, and given the task of hunting down any remaining Jedi in the galaxy, as well as any tasks Palpatine saw fit to give her. She was now beyond rank in the Navy, and had a certain degree of autonomous action. Using her newfound powers, she took her revenge upon all who had done something against her before. Officers who had denied her promotion, or equipment found themselves the victims of 'fatal accidents', and those who had made fun of her at the academy, also invariably died in nasty and horrible ways.
Then, one day while Lady Alex was checking the Imperial files on suspected jedi, she came across her own name after slicing into an area classified even to her. In her file, she discovered that the Emperor had known of her Force sensitivity, and had authorised a raid upon her parents farm, the troopers having being ordered to make it look like the Rebels had done so, in order to trick her into joining the Imperial Forces, and allowing her to be corrupted to the Darkside of the Force. With this revelation, her anger grew and grew, and she vowed to be revenged upon the Emperor. Vader knew nothing of the plan, he had also been manipulated by the Emperor.
Knowing and fearing the Emperor spying on her with his farsight, Lady Alex determined to seek out ancient and lost Force lore. Using informants and information to which she had access, she eventually learned of the Empress Teta system, former home to the Sith adepts known as the Krath. Visiting here, she managed to discover a hidden base that even Palpatine had not found. Inside, she discovered secrets, the most useful of which was knowledge of Cloak of the Sith, allowing her to hide her actions from Palpatine. She broke away from the Empire, and threw herself into studies of the Darkside, following any and all leads to strengthen herself in the Force even further, with the aim of challenging the Emperor himself, and revenging herself for her families murder. During this time, she collected many more powers and Sith artifacts, running from the Empire, and occasionally having to kill Inquisitors that were chasing her. She attracted a following, and named her group the New Krath.
In time, Lady Alex realised that in order to defeat Palpatine, who was the darkside incarnate, she must also fully become the darkside, and so, in her own personally designed Battle-cruiser, The Vision Thing, she set forth to the planet of Korriban, former site of Sith power, and began a meditation designed to separate her spirit from her body, and travel to the Darkness between Stars.
However, such a massive ripple in the force could not be hidden from the Emperor, and he dispatched forces to prevent Lady Alex's apotheosis. A full fleet, led by an Super Star Destroyer hyperspaced in, and engaged her forces. Unwilling to leave her trance, her forces were denied her leadership, and eventually annihilated. Lady Alex herself was killed when the Vision Thing was pounded into space scrap.
However, at the time of her physical death, the Spirit of Lady Alex had achieved what she had set out to do. She entered and became one with the Darkness between Stars, and learned from it all that she could, even learning a way to return to the flesh, by stealing it from another. But in joining with the Darkness, Lady Alex discovered the ultimate loneliness that lay within. Breaking away from her quest, she fled back to the world of the flesh.
A young Twi'lek girl was to be the new incarnation of Lady Alex's essence. The girl was the personal slave of a vicious and brutal Pirate Captain, treated so badly that she withdrew into herself, and begged for her misery to be ended, her will to live crushed from her. Lady Alex saw this, and was actually moved by such a plight, her Corellian heritage giving her an abhorrence of slavery, something that had bothered her while in the Imperial Navy, but had never acted upon as Han Solo had done. To the young Twi'lek, Lady Alex appeared as a Dark Angel who had come to answer her prayers, thus she willingly gave her body to Lady Alex, and was released to the Light. As Lady Alex watched the young girl's soul released, she saw for the first time in her existence, she saw the strength and warmth of the Light. After her time among the darkness, she was awed. Then and there Lady Alex vowed that she would reconcile the Light and the Dark within her. She would escape the Darkness, but would not serve the light, but intends to become something in between.
When she returned to the flesh, she discovered she was in the same predicament as the young twi'lek girl, the slave of a powerful and brutal Pirate. However, she had abilities the slave girl had not possessed. Although her return to life had weakened her drastically, she was still strong enough in the Force to turn the tables on the Pirate, and to take over the pirate gang.
Since that time, she has discovered that while she was away, Palpatine was killed, and the Empire dispersed. Taking the opportunity, she made contact with the remainder of her forces, and took possession of the Empress Teta and surrounding systems, setting up the Darkmasque Imperium, and the Krath Academy where you are now. Lady Alex is a wise and beneficient ruler. She does not command as the Emperor did, through fear, but through respect. She is willing to risk herself for her people, and we all know this. Although she still strives to reconcile the Force, she realises this could take some time. The Krath grow ever stronger, and her academy prospers, the mirror of Master Skywalker's on Yavin. All her Krath Adepts are forbidden from fighting one another, or face discipline from the Lady Darkmasque herself.
And that is all you need know Young One. The Lady Alex has plans within plans within plans, and it is not for us to understand, nor to question her judgements.
