What is life?
Based upon my experiences and learning from other people's experiences, this is what I
make of life. Life is a personal journey. For the most part, life is what we make of it. Who
we are--are shaped by our up bringing in relations to our families, friends, customs, and
culture. Our behavioral imprints start from our childhood when we become aware of
ourselves. From there on, as an adult, we will be, for the most part, set on our habits.
As we go through life, we play out our roles that are devised by society. At work,
around friends, families, and etc., we act and behave accordingly to those various social
functions. It is okay, as long as, we don't lose ourselves. Meaning, some people act
snobby, boast about their successes, belittle others, give the impression that they are on
top of the world, and etc. This creates envy between the "haves and the have nots".
People lose respect for them because they think they are better than everyone else.
Besides, life is a personal journey, and what we make of our life should be personal and
private. I admire those people that live a quiet, peaceful life that is humble and always
willing to lend a helping hand to the ones in need. Above all, they lend a helping hand
from the goodness of their hearts without any expectations. Those are the kind of people
that I admire and want to follow in their foot steps.
Above all material things, life is precious. We are only here for a little while. Every
step we take can be our last. So, there is no need to play games and mistreat one another,
for we are all in the same boat. We all worry and have some sort of problems to a lesser or
greater degrees. Coping with life from day to day is hard enough. Let us be kind to one
another and help each other along as best as we can. As for myself, I would like to walk
the path of peace and harmony. Hoping not to hurt any hearts along the way before my
time comes to pass beyond the gate.
What is happiness?
I like to think of happiness like a perfect crystal ball, so clear and beautiful. Then it was
dropped and shattered to pieces. Each of those pieces is the smile and laughter of the
different good times that have gone and yet to come. As we go through life, we will find
those different pieces of happiness along the way; however, you will never find them all at
one time. As we go through life, we need to follow the path of bliss--no matter how
rough the road may be. We should always make the best of what we have. We need to
condition our mind to be happy. Above all, happiness is a choice!
What is relationship?
A relationship is how we relate to one another. It is about give and take. It is about
giving without any expectations. To our significant other, one should treat each other as
guest behind close door. Sometimes when we become comfortable, we forget how much
effort we put into making the relationship fun and interesting at the beginning. Then we
take each other for grant it at the end. With all the bills and routines of relationship, then
we forget how to live. We don't have time for ourselves. As a result, we blame each other
for our unhappiness because we don't feel in control of our lives. Sometimes the
responsibility takes its toll that would lead to broken relationship. The important thing is
that we should not forget how to live. Above all this, refrain from any expectations from
your partner. Stop feeding your mind that he/she should be like this and like that. If you
do, you will end up with disappointments and cause yourself sufferings because things
are not conforming to your illusions. We must accept ourselves and our partner as is.
Then put in a lot of effort to help each other out and just enjoy each others' company.
What is success?
Success is about achieving a worthwhile goal. Everyone sees success differently. To
some, climbing a mountain to certain height would be a success. And some,
making a million dollar and then some would be a success. To some, achieving a balance
in one's life would be a success. So, it means different things to different people.
What is failure?
Failure is a negative concept that has been taught and molded by society throughout
your life. It is associated with negative consequences. It usually follows some form of
punishment to some degree. As a result, it brings you sorrows and pains. It is the forces
between good and evil. To me, failure is success in disguise. By nature, humans are
imperfect and will make a lot of mistakes throughout their lives. So failures and successes
are part of the process of life. It is neither bad nor good. It is just the natural order of
things. What is important is that we learn from the mistakes and don't repeat them.
Without failures, they are no successes. So just understand that failure is the process of
success. There is no workaround.
What is a family?
A family is usually linked by blood but does not have to be. With a family, you feel you
can be yourself without having to be pretentious. You can always depend on them until
death due you part. You will always have a place to come home to if you're ever lost. Your
love and their love will stand the test of time for better or worse.
What is faith or belief?
During the dawn of human evolution or caveman time if you will, we have come a longway. Back then, we invented primitive signs and spoken languages. Over eons, wekept refining what we learned until a written language was invented by the different cultures. With the advent of languages, we were able to record history and passed down
knowledge from generation to generation. Along the way, some of the elite thinkers came
up with great folklores or fables to keep everyone in balance. Without law and order,
our society would not exist, and our specie would become extinct over time. The highest
human order is religion. Based upon each landscape and culture, different religions were borne, placing emphasis upon the surrounding landscape and culture. However, the fundamental truths are very similar--just written with different shades of the context of each language capabilities. Since human language is invented byus, it is still limited when it comes to explaining certain deep concepts. Each religion doesit through stories, fables, and folklores. At times, we tend to interpret the stories literally. I think the great sages intentions are for us to think deeply and go beyond the words and learn from the examples of the stories. Again, ideas that deal with human emotions that touch the human hearts are very hard to explain in human languages. Above all this, every religion is trying to help us deal with our sufferings. Each one has different perspectives and approaches. Love, forgiveness, and compassion are the keys that will give us serenity and peace within ourselves. As long as we find peace and love in any faith, it is all good--so long as we don't cause others to suffer. We are all different individuals, and we all view the world through our own window ofexperiences. Every faith has a shade of truths in GOD, for no one has ever seen GOD. I truly believethere is a supreme being or consciousness that all our spirit is a part of.
