Today I woke up
and looked at my life
the smiles I have made
and the times that I've cried.
I've looked at my dreams
and I've looked at all of the things that are real
I realize what I was missing most
were all of the simple things I can feel.
I learned how people can go
in so many ways from our hearts
the ways they can go and disappear
and never come back to where you are.
I know now what it is to be empty
to be scared to let someone get close
to want to run and hide from everything
to leave and not know where to go.
I found out that the biggest things hurt the worst
and the smallest feel the best
but what you want the most
you'll probably never have.
I've learned that wishes come true
and sometimes the unknown is known
that no matter where it is that you are
you always feel the need to go home.
I've learned that promises are indeed broken
and that broken hearts can mend
and when you least expect it to
it all comes crashing to an end.
