Misunderstood

Hey everyone! This is my first real Digimon fic, so I hope you all like it. I’d like to thank all my reviewers to make this all possible. If it weren’t for you, I don’t think I’d be writing anymore. Tee-he. Thanks everyone! T.K and friends are 16 in this story just to let you all know.

T.K and Kari had been going out for six months now, and a lot of people think that they’re perfect for each other. Of course, there still are the ones who think different. It was a bright summer’s day. It was the last month of school actually.

“Hey T.K.” said Melinda. “Oh, hey Melinda.” Smiled T.K. Melinda blushed slightly. Melinda was one of T.K.’s friends. He had met her this year since she transferred here not too long ago. She didn’t know anyone, but T.K. was really nice to her.

Melinda had light brown hair with red highlights and dark brown eyes. She was actually very attractive, but she was really shy. Her family was rich, so she always tended to always get what she wants, and she was never happy if she wasn’t. But ever since she met T.K. everything changed. She wasn’t as spoiled though she still sort of tended to be like that. She would have made friends easily if she weren’t so shy.

When T.K. first met her, she was really shy, but then she became more comfortable around him so she wasn’t so kept in. She was in great shape and was pretty slim. She was only slightly shorter than T.K. She was up to T.K.’s eyes. When T.K. introduced her to Kari, the first thing that crossed her mind was competition.

Kari was very kind to her, and she finally got use to her. Melinda also met all of T.K.’s other friends. She loved being around T.K. since he as popular and other girls always envied her because of it.

“So why are you here so early in the morning?” asked Melinda. “Well, I was meeting Kari here. I said I’d meet her here at a quarter before school starts, but I came here early so I’d make sure I wasn’t late.” Smiled T.K. “Oh, that’s great T.K.” smiled Melinda. “So why are you here?” asked T.K. “Well, I was planning to meet someone here. I needed help with an assignment.” Said Melinda, a bit nervously.

“Really? What do you need help on? I’m sure I can help.” Said T.K. T.K. wasn’t only great at sports but he had great marks too.

“Hey T.K. Great game man! You rock!” said one of T.K.’s friends, Mark, as they gave each other a high five. T.K. blushed slightly. “Hey Mark. You were great too.” Smiled T.K.

Mark had dark brown spiked up hair. He gelled it every morning before going to school. He had died the front part of his hair blue and he had blue eyes. He was more of a slacker type; it was surprising that he actually got good marks.

“Hey Melinda.” Smiled Mark. “Hi Mark.” She smiled back. “T.K.!” yelled Kari running up to him with her arms full of books. “Hey Kari!” yelled T.K. running toward her. “Here, you look like you need the help.” Smiled T.K. as he took the pile of books from Kari’s arms. “Thanks T.K.” smiled Kari sweetly. “Sure thing.” He answered.

“Good move buddy!” laughed Mark. “Shut up Mark!” yelled T.K. Kari laughed. “Hey Mark.” “Hey Kari, how’s your boyfriend been treating you lately?” joked Mark. Melinda elbowed him in the stomach. “Hey Kari.” She smiled. “Hey Melinda.” Smiled Kari, as she and T.K. headed into the school.

“You’re late.” Said Melinda as she started walking after T.K. and Kari. “Hey, can you blame me. We had a tough game last night.” Smiled Mark. “Of course you did, and 72 to 10 is very hard.” Said Melinda in sarcasm. “Well, you understand don’t you? Come on. I was only what? 2 minutes late?” laughed mark nervously.

“No, 1 minute, 21 seconds and 4 micro-seconds.” Said Melinda. “Oh, come on.” Whined Mark. “I’m just kidding.” Laughed Melinda.

T.K. and Kari were working silently in the library. It was the half coffee half library places. “Hey there love birds.” Said a sudden voice. T.K. and Kari looked up quickly. “Oh, hey Tai. What are you doing here?” Asked Kari. “I just thought I’d drop by and visit. Besides, we have no school today. An I hear there’s something happening in your class.” Smiled Tai. “I’m surprised you even got up this early.” Laughed T.K.

“Hey, don’t push it buddy.” Smirked Tai as he gave a nuggy sandwich to T.K. “Hey alright, alright, stop it already.” Complained T.K. Kari laughed.

Tai was going to law school. He was the most famous layer in all of Tokyo and most of everywhere else. He had never lost a case yet, but he still didn’t think he was good enough so he still kept continuing in law school.

He hadn’t cut his hair very much, so it still looked the same as it did when he was in 7th grade. But it made him look super cute.

“Hey Sora!” smiled Kari as she saw Sora walking toward them. Sora worked a part time job, tending to her mother’s flowers, but she still went to university. It was going to be her last year there, if she passed this semester. Then she’d be able to tend to her mother’s flowers full time.

“Hey Kari.” She smiled. “Hey Sora.” Smiled Tai playfully. “Tai.” She said happily as she pecked him on the cheek. T.K. slapped his head in boredom and groaned as his brother, Matt, came over.

“Hey little bro.” Said Matt as he walked toward T.K. with his girlfriend Mimi holding his arm. “Hi Matt.” Said T.K. “Miss me?” asked Matt slyly. “Not really.” Lied T.K. “Don’t lie T.K. You’ve been talking about matt ever since he left.” Smiled Kari. “Kari! Just cause I said so, doesn’t mean you have to tell him.” Groaned T.K.

Matt laughed. Matt had become a singer and had ever any time with his family anymore. He was always busy traveling the world with Mimi. Mimi was a fashion model so they were perfect for each other. They had made front page on every newspaper and magazine when they first started dating. They were both very well known, since Matt was the best band on earth so far, and Mimi was the most-known model.

“Kari, I bought something for you. I got some things for you too Sora. It will be the latest in the fashion trend. I haven’t even seen it on magazines yet or anything, but they’re taking the pictures a few days from now. So you can be sure everyone will go wild for them.” Smiled Mimi. “Thanks Mimi.” They both smiled.

“Joe and Izzy should be here soon. We told them to meet us here.” Said Tai. As if on cue, Izzy and Joe ran toward them. “Hey you guys, hope we’re not late.” Said Izzy out of breath. “We got here as soon as we could.” Said Joe.

Izzy was a computer teacher, but he still wanted to go to computer class for fun. He was the only one of all of them who enjoyed computers that much. Joe had become a professional doctor and he good at it too. He has healed all of his patients in no time. They both had a girlfriend now.

“No, you’re here just in time.” Smiled Tai. “We were planning a barbequed dinner for all of us.” smiled Sora. “Would you guys like to join us after school’s over?” asked Mimi. “Sure thing. Wouldn’t miss it for the world.” Answered T.K. “Me too.” Smiled Kari.

“So how’s your girlfriend Izzy?” asked T.K. curiously. Izzy blushed a bit. “Well, she’s fine. Beth’s really interested in computers.” Smiled Izzy. “Perfect for you huh?” laughed T.K.

Elizabeth was Izzy’s girlfriend. Izzy called her Beth for short though. They both had an interest in computers and loved to surf the net. That’s how they met each other actually. And then they realized they already knew each other. They had been going out for 2 years now.

Elizabeth had a purple-red kind of color hair and lavender eyes. Her hair flowed smoothly down her back. She worked as a nurse for the dentists. She loved to jog every morning before work. It was a great way to keep in shape.

“And yours?” asked T.K. looking at Joe. “She’s fine. She’s a great assistant.” Joe smiled. He had met Jenny when she started working with him. They had been going out for 10 months after Joe got the courage to ask her out.

Jenny had long, cerulean blue hair. It was up to her waist. She became a nurse because she loved helping people. Her hobby was to swim though, and when she swam, she swam like a beautiful, and graceful mermaid. It was a wonderful sight for Joe to watch, since he couldn’t really swim himself, but Jenny had made him promise to learn.

“O.K. then, we’ll see you then. I’m sure Matt and Mimi wouldn’t want to be caught when everyone starts coming to school.” Laughed Tai as he waved good-bye and left with Sora. “Hey! What about you huh? We’re not the only ones.” Said Matt chasing after Tai. “Bye guys.” Said Mimi as the rest of them followed Tai, Matt and Sora. “Bye.” Smiled T.K. and Kari.

Just then, Melinda and Mark walked in laughing. “I can’t believe you!” laughed Melinda. “And what about you!” laughed Mark. But then the librarian glared at them and they immediately shut up.

Mark and Melinda ran over to T.K. and Kari. “Hey guys? What happened?” asked T.K. looking at his now soaked friends. “Mark splashed water at me, that jerk.” Laughed Melinda. “Hey, she splashed back.” Laughed Mark. Kari sweat dropped.

Soon class started and everyone hurried to class. Melinda and Mark were sent outside because they were so wet. “Thanks a lot Mark.” Complained Melinda.

Mark turned to look at her. Melinda looked up not hearing a come back. “Huh?” she looked at him. “Melinda, I realized something. I realized quite a while ago, but I think I’m attracted to you.” Said Mark looking away slightly.

Melinda looked at him for a while. “Oh, I get it, you’re joking. You almost fooled me.” Laughed Melinda. “No Melinda, I serious.” Said Mark. “You’re ser… serious?” asked Melinda. Mark nodded his head as Melinda stared at him in disbelief.

Then she looked down sadly. She didn’t feel the same way about him though. How could she tell him that she was interested in his best friend? “Mark… I don’t know what to say, I’m so sorry…” started Melinda. “No, it’s alright. I understand. I never expected you to feel the same way. I just… I just wanted you to know.” Said Mark sadly.

Melinda looked down sadly. They stayed silent, as the tension in the air grew stronger.

While in class, there was a note being passed around the classroom for Kari. When Kari got it, she opened it and it read:

Hey Kari,

I was wondering if you’d like to, you know, hang out later. I thought that some time alone without homework would be fun. So give me your reply soon. Yea, well, good luck on the test.

T.K.

Kari turned to look at T.K. who was across the room and nodded. T.K. smiled and faced the front again.

“O.K. class, we won’t be having a test today.” Started the sensei as the students started to cheer. “I’d like you all to welcome a visitor. For those of you who would like to be lawyer one day.” Said the sensei.

Just then Tai entered the class. “Tai?” T.K. and Kari said at the same time. “Hi everyone, some of you in here might know me, but I’m here today to talk to you about what it’s like to be a lawyer.” Tai smiled.

Most of the girls sighed dreamily and was paying more attention on how Tai looked than rather his speech while the guys, who knew that when Tai still went to this school was the star player for soccer had star struck admiring eyes.

Tai went through his presentation. It was really interesting but no one really paid much attention. When it was over, Tai asked if there were any questions. Everyone raised their hands up except T.K. and Kari.

“O.K. You can go first.” Said Tai pointing to a girl with blond hair and blue eyes. She was one of those popular, but really mean type of girls. Her name was Jennifer.

She gave him her sweetest smile and did circles on her desktop. “I was wondering, Tai, if you have a girlfriend.” She said. Tai scratched the back of his head embarrassingly as T.K. snickered at him.

“Well, that’s not the topic. But if your sensei allows it, I guess I could tell you.” Answered Tai. Everyone turned to look at his or her sensei, “Very well.” He said.

“O.K. then, yes I do have a girlfriend.” Answered Tai. Jennifer looked down disappointingly and jealously.

“Yes, you.” Said Tai looking at another girl. “Are you a movie star?” she asked dreamily. Tai sweat dropped. “No, I’m sorry, but I’m not. You might have seen me in newspapers or magazines but no, I’m not a movie star.” Answered Tai.

He looked around the room and decided he wasn’t going to answer anymore girl questions. “O.K. uh… you.” Said Tai.

“Do you still have the trophies you won when you were in the championships?” asked a boy excitedly.

Tai did an anime fall. “Uh, well, yes. Anymore questions?” asked Tai. “O.K. you.” Said Tai.

“You were awesome in the basketball tournament. I bet no one else could do your moves. Can you teach me?” he asked excitedly. “Well, maybe some other time. Why don’t you ask T.K? I taught him a few things.” Smiled Tai.

T.K. sweat dropped as all the guys in the class turned to look at him. “Well class, are there anymore questions?” asked Tai.

Everyone quickly turned toward the front of the classroom again and rose up their hands.

“How did you become so good in soccer?” asked another guy. “Well, I like playing it as a hobby, so I guess playing it gave me practice.” Answered Tai.

“So, is there any other questions that doesn’t involve with my social life?” asked Tai. No one rose up his or her hands, so Kari decided to volunteer.

“Uh, yes Kari?” asked Tai. “Um… how many cases have you gone through so far, and how many more are trying to get you when you’re available?” asked Kari.

Tai gave Kari a grateful smile. “I have already done 135 cases and there are still 501 cases I have to deal with.” Said Tai. T.K. smirked at him, but he knew Tai worked really hard at it.

“Yes T.K.?” asked Tai. “Knowing that you haven’t lost a case yet, do you actually choose the winning cases and ignore the ones that don’t stand a chance, or do you try to do both?” asked T.K.

“I try to help both, but most of the time I just help the ones that don’t usually stand a chance since not many other people would take those cases.” Smiled Tai.

“Hey, so does that mean you’re the best at this job thing?” asked a guy in the class. Tai blushed slightly. “No, I don’t believe so. I’m sure I still have lots to learn.” Answered Tai.

“But you haven’t lost a case yet, have you?” asked Jennifer. “Well, no.” answered Tai truthfully.

“Wow! Tai’s great at everything!” yelled one of the guys in the class. “Yea!” everyone cheered.

“Calm down class.” Said the sensei. “How long does it usually take to deal with a case?” asked Jennifer. “Usually it takes around 1-2 years, but I try to help everyone of my clients to the best of my abilities, so for me it’s usually around 5-10 months. Or shorter.” Answered Tai.

“Hey Tai?” asked Jennifer sweetly. “Yes, um…” started Tai. “Jennifer.” Continued Jennifer. “Uh, right, Jennifer.” Said Tai. “Can my daddy hire you for a lawyer?” asked Jennifer.

“Uh, yes he can.” Answered Tai. “If he hires you, do you have to do whatever he says?” asked Jennifer slyly. “Not exactly. I can give him some options to choose from. It depends on the case he’s going against.” Answered Tai.

“What about ordering you to go out with someone, not namely anyone in particular, but someone who’s beautiful, and popular and smart. Someone your type for sure.” Said Jennifer, basically meaning herself but Tai didn’t really get that.

“Yes, that’s why Sora’s my girlfriend. There’s no one else like her.” Smiled Tai. “Um, excuse me, but what about me?” asked Jennifer.

Tai sweat dropped. “Uh… well, you’re uh… do I have to answer this?” asked Tai turning to face the sensei. “I’m afraid so. It was based on the right topic after all.” Answered the sensei shaking his head.

“Well, you’re…” started Tai as T.K. snickered at him. “You’re great and everything, I’m sure, but Sora… Sora’s different. She’s great at soccer and she’s loving and caring, and would never intentionally hurt someone. She’s everything I could dream for.” Blushed Tai.

Kari sighed. Her brother was so romantic sometimes, unlike T.K. He was great and everything, but he wasn’t very romantic.

T.K. tried to hold himself from laughing as Jennifer glared at her desk jealously. “Do you have a car?” asked one of Jennifer’s friends, Kimberly.

“Yes, I do.” Smiled Tai. “What type is it?” asked one of the guys. “It’s the latest. 3 times better than the power engine of the original sports car and twice the bullet prove protection. It’s got a miniature T.V. and satellite system installed and… uh, right, back to my job.” Sighed Tai, as everyone slumped back down in their sits again.

“Did Kari get to ride in it?” asked a guy. “Uh… yes and so did T.K., Matt, Sora, Mimi, Izzy, Joe and some other people.” Smiled Tai.

“Did you say Matt? As in Matt the best singer ever, and Mimi the model?” asked Jennifer in excitement. “Uh… yes, they’re some really close friends of mine.” Answered Tai. “Can you give me their autographs?” asked Jennifer dreamily. “Uh, sure. Anymore questions?” asked Tai. No one rose up his or her hands this time.

“O.K. then, I’ll be leaving now.” Smiled Tai in relief. “Thank you very much.” Said the sensei. “No problem. I mean, it’s alright, really.” Answered Tai.

“Wait for me after class!” yelled Jennifer as Tai left.

After school, T.K. and Kari went their separate ways and went over to their lockers. “T.K.!” yelled Melinda running up to him. “Hey Melinda, what’s up?” asked T.K.

“Well, you see… I need some help on my assignments. I was wondering if you could help me out. I know a lot of other girls ask you too, but I really need help.” Said Melinda while blushing.

“Well, I could squeeze you in on Saturday, from 1-2 pm. Do you think you’ll be able to make it?” laughed T.K. Melinda frowned, “It’s do after tomorrow T.K.” “I was just kidding. Sure thing, Melinda. I’ll help you. What do you need help on?” asked T.K. “My math. Its just so difficult.” Groaned Melinda. “Well, don’t you worry about that, we’ll work it out together.” Smiled T.K. “O… O.K.” stammered Melinda as T.K. put an arm around her.

“We’ll work on it tomorrow O.K? I have to meet up with Kari. We were planning to have a barbeque with her brother and my brother and everyone,” smiled T.K. “Uh… sure T.K. Anything you say.” Smiled Melinda as she ran off.

“Hey T.K. What was that all about?” asked Kari walking up to him. “Nothing Kari. Melinda just asked me to help her with her math homework and I told her I’d help her tomorrow.” Answered T.K.

“Are you sure? You seemed a bit close if you ask me.” Said Kari. T.K. bent down and kissed her on the forehead. “Oh come one Kari. You know you’re the only one for me. I would never do a thing like that. Now come on, before Tai has a fit.” Smiled T.K.

Kari blushed a bit, “O.K. T.K.”
