Cry and I love lighthouses. We go see as many as we can whenever we get the chance. So far we have been to seven lighthouses in two states. Here are some of our pictures!! |

Cape Lookout Lighthouse! |

|
|
These two pics. are from our first trip to a lighthouse, which was late last year. This is Cape Lookout Lighthouse, on the North Carolina coast. Its so beautiful here I barely have the words to describe it. The water is so clean and pristine, and there are not too many tourists to contend with. |

We really enjoyed our visit to Bodie Island Lighthouse. When we arrived at the lighthouse it was storming, but it quickly cleared off and we were able to get some beautiful pictures and we had lots of fun exploring the surrounding aress. |

Currituck was absolutely beautiful. I really liked it because it was the first one we had seen that was not painted. The red brick was breathtaking set against the surrounding weeping willows. |

The drive to Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is gorgeous, with the ocean beside you most of the time. From there, we took a 45-minute ferry ride to Ocracoke Island. The ferry ride is fun, and the only way on and off the island. |
|
|
Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is one of the most recognizable lighthouses in the US. It is the tallest lighthouse in America. Because of beach erosion the lighthouse had to be relocated in 1999. |

Ocracoke Lighthouse is a very cute little lighthouse. It is the smallest of the ones we have visited so far. It was on Ocracoke Island that the infamous pirate Blackbeard was beheaded by Captian Robert Maynard of the Britsh Army in 1718. |

We had the least fun at this lighthouse because it was hard to find, and then by the time we got there they were closing so we didn't get a chance to tour it. |

The Ponce de Leon Lighthouse was one of the prettiest ones we have seen. The tour of it was outstanding, there is so much to see and do here. You can walk to the top of the lighthouse, look inside the keepers' houses, and even feel how heavy the cans of oil they had to carry to the top of the lighthouse every day were. There was also an awesome exhibit on the fresnel lights, which we are standing in front of in the two pictures on the bottom left. |
