But first . . . A note regarding the spelling of this surname:
Our family name originated as "Cosack" in Russia as old family documents prove. However, not long after the family immigrated to Ohio, their local priest decided "Cosack" was not a "Russian" spelling -- and began writing all family documents using the spelling "Kuziak."
The entire immidiate family then assumed this spelling from approximately 1903 onward. Other spelling changes have no doubt occurred -- and the "correct" spelling is still a subject of family debate among other branches.
