Aaron Clark - 2005 Race Details
22 Jan 2005  - Pegasus Cycling Inter-Club. 60km Road. 9th in B Grade in 1:46:02. Blustery NorWesters meant riders were being dropped in the first lap of the race!

13 Feb 2005  -

Aaron Clark. Beautiful warm North Canterbury day, and a great event run between Culverden and Cheviot by the Cheviot Lions Club, who
organise great prizes, including spot prizes for support crews, a great meal, and hot showers at the finish line.

20 Feb 2005  -
Lees Valley Challenge. 75km Mountainbike, 5th Senior Male, 6th Overall in 3:11:07. 1st Julian Mitchell, 2nd Mike Causer, 3rd Nick Ross.
Perfect weather for a slog through one of Canterbury' nicest valleys with about 300 other good keen bikers. Well organised by Richard, and sponsored by
the great tasting apple juice maker - Mill Orchard.

9 Mar 2005   - Bicycle Business Twilight Mtb Racing 21km Mountainbike, 3rd Singlespeed (love it!!), 5th Overall in 43.14 at Bottle Lake Forest.

12 Mar 2005 - City Club Race, Prebbleton, Road 40km. 2nd in B Grade in 1:07. Legs feeling pretty good and got into a break of 3 into a headwind.

19 Mar 2005 - Houston Motors Mitsubishi Rainbow Rage. Mountainbike 106km. 5th Senior Male, 8th Overall out of 1490 riders in 4:12:22. Absolutely rapt to make the
top-10 this year. This race is the hardest of the season, and one I really look forward to. With rough conditions, climbs to 1385m and 70kph descents,
this ride really is a true test. Stripped my crank bolts on the Marin the day before the race, so borrowed Chat's Giant  NRS1, wow, what a bike! Thanks
mate. Vets next year in this race!
Rainbow Rage 2005.                                                                                          Summit Road, Le Race.         Michelle keeps the guys honest on Dyers Pass Road.
2 April 2005 - Le Race. Road Race 100km, Christchurch to Akaroa. 1st in Mixed Teams with my wife Michelle in 3:23:31. 3rd overall in all 82 teams including mens!
What a great day out. We took 12 minutes off our 2004 time (where we came 2nd) to take the win. Very satisfying to compete in a race with Michelle
                     and to do so well.

14 May 2005 - City Club Winter Road Series, Prebbleton, Race 1. 40km in 1:06:00, 7th in B Grade.

7 Aug 2005  - Classic Hits Caveman Classic. Mtb 26km. 7th Senior in 1:57:18. Tough course! The back felt great, and the body worked well until about 3km to go, but
everything was fine considering it was the first race for 3 months. The new NRS1 performed well too, had to get one after riding one in the Rainbow.

27 Aug 2005 - Canterbury Club Time Trial Champs. Road 32km, Sefton, North Canterbury. 8th Senior Male, 1st City Club Senior Male in 54:38. Very tough workout,
rode at threshold for a good hard training workout. Legs felt dead for 10km, but then came right on the undulating Sefton block in the rain.

11 Sep 2005 - Canterbury Interclub. Road 64km. 4th in 1:55:30. Good racing on a perfect day on the Oxford-Cust-Somerhill block. Nice to get the bunch finish on an
uphill finale with a 2km escape. Congrats to the 3 breakaways who spent 30km off the front.

17 Sep 2005 - Amanda Wilks Cup, Canterbury Interclub, Road 80km, Sefton, North Canterbury. 10th in 2:11:10. Stiff Norwesters meant only half of the field finished
with us in the bunch, and over a third of the field didn't even finish. Good hard early season race.

9 Oct 2005   - South Island Masters Games, Mountainbike 25km, Woodstock, North Canterbury. 1st in 30-34years age group, 1st overall in 1:26:40. Beautiful day,
great scenery, excellent track and a wonderful atmosphere. Took the lead near the end of the 1st of 5 laps, and never looked back. Had one of those days
where I didn't even feel the legs, and the bike worked perfectly.
16 Oct 2005 - South Island Master's Games, Road Race, 64km, Sefton, North Canterbury. 1st in 30-34 years age group, 2nd overall in 1:39:00. another beautiful day,
some wind on the undulating Sefton block. A group of seven of us broke away from the bunch on the second lap, and stayed away to the finish.

12 Oct 2005 - Molesworth Muster, Mountainbike, 80km, Molesworth Station to Hanmer Springs, Canterbury. 3rd Open Male in 2:39:57, 6th Overall. Great weather to
wake up to after a restless nights camping surrounded by snorers! The legs wouldn't go for the first hour, but came right after a while, so it was great
to get any kind of result.Very well organised event which starts from a very special place that not many people get to.

19 Oct 2005 - Mainland Outdoors McDonald Downs, Mountainbike, 35km, McDonald Downs, North Canterbury. 8th Overall in 2:17:12. Was a great day until the first
crash in a well disguised muddy bog bent my rear brake rotor while I was leading, and then later while I was in 2nd place with no more climbing left a
rock hidden in grass on a 50kph descent blew my front tyre and smashed a Mavis Crossmax Rim. I was just able to limp to the finish contemplating the
cost of repairs! Lost my course record too, so I guess I better come back next year?!
