You Oughtn't Be in Pictures Part 4
Part 3
Abby herds Nicholas upstairs, calling out for Nancy along the way. Nicholas
cringes on every step.
Nancy comes out of the room. "Yeah?"
"Your father is looking for you," Abby says as she leads Nicholas towards
the bathroom. "He's down in his study."
"Thanks Abby. Elizabeth is still asleep." She says and then goes downstairs
to the study.
Abby makes a mental note to check on Elizabeth after she's bandaged up Nicholas.
Nancy slowly walks in to the study.
''Come in." Tom says.
She comes all the way in. "You wanted to see me?"
He nods. "Have a seat."
She sits down.
"How'd it go today?"
"How did what go today?"
"School."
"Ok I guess." She says with doubt in her tone.
"Nancy, talk to me."
"I'm having trouble concentrating." She also tells him Abby's solution.
"She's right."
"I tried that and it didn't work, yet. I'm sure it's not going to work
right away though."
"Give it time and don't push yourself."
"Ok."
"Now this thing with Elizabeth."
"Dad I said I was sorry."
"I know you did, but i just wanted to know why?"
"Because I know how it feels to be stuck staring at four walls all day."
Tom sighs "I know, all I am asking is that next time you or anyone
else ask Abby or me first ok?"
"I will."
"Good."
"Dad, I have a question."
"OK."
"Have the police said when I can get the car repaired?"
"Actually, I havent heard anything."
"Wonderful."
"Sorry, honey."
"Not your fault."
"Maybe the detective will call later."
"Yeah maybe."
"Anything else?"
She shakes her head.
"Nancy, I know you don't feel like this will ever happen, but broken hearts
do get mended."
"Do they? I know Noah isn't the first to break it, but it's different
this time."
Tom nods. "It is diifferent, you were about to marry him."
"Yeah, I never figured Noah for the shallow type."
"I know its no consolation, but isn't it better to find out now instead of
after?"
"I don't know if it would've been later at least I could have gotten alimony."
She tries to joke.
Tom tries to laugh. "You are very brave."
"Thank you."
"And you have a whole family who is behind you."
She manages a smile. "I know."
Tom smiles also
Nancy reaches over and gives him a hug.
Tom hugs her back. "Can you do me a favor?"
"Sure."
"Could you get me some iced tea? I really need to get back to my column."
"Of course, do you want anything else?"
"No, but thanks."
She nods and goes to get him his tea.
"Sorry," Abby says to Nicholas. "But I don't think I could lift you. Does
it hurt an awful lot?"
"No, I'll be ok."
"You at least master the wheelies?"
"Except the last one."
"When your knees heal, you going to go out and try again?"
He shrugs. "Maybe."
"Then again, wheelies aren't so good for your bike."
"They're not?"
"There's a lot of weight on the back wheel when you're up, and unless you're
very gentle, it's a big impact when you put the front wheel back down."
"How do you know about that stuff." he asks intrigued.
"My father wanted a boy, so I tried as hard as I could to be one."
"Oh..." he says. "That's cool."
"I learned to do a lot of things girls generally don't."
"Like what else?"
"My dad and I used to go hunting, and I can fix my car a little--nothing
like David, though."
"Cool." he says. "Abby?"
"Yes?"
"I'm glad you are my step-mom and its been kinda nice to see you when I get
home."
Abby smiles. "I'm glad you're my stepkid. I like hearing about your day when
you come home."
"You do?"
Abby nods as she bandages Nicholas. "Wheelies and all."
Nicholas laughs.
"I wonder if I can still do a wheelie..." Abby says, almost to herself.
''Really?''
"I used to do them pretty well, but it's been a while."
"Want to try again?"
"I'm too big for your bike," Abby says, though she's tempted.
"There's Tommy's?"
"I'll ask him. But your knees are probably hurting too much for today."
"I can watch."
Abby thinks for a minute. "OK, let's do it."
"Yay." he says.
Abby puts the last of the bandages on Nicholas and helps him off the sink
ledge. "Let's go find Tommy."
"Ok."
They go looking for Tommy.
Who is in his room hitting the books.
"Hi. Studying?" Abby asks.
"If you can call it that."
"The new methods helping you any?"
He shrugs. "It seems its taking twice as long as before."
"Maybe because the other times it was going in one ear and out the other
and this time it's stopping in the middle. Look, may I borrow your bike for
a little?"
"My bike?" he asks wondering if he heard right.
"Your bike," Abby repeats. "You know, two wheels, a seat, handlebars?"
"Yeah, I guess. But whats wrong with your car?"
"I'm not using it for transportation. I just want to show Nicholas something."
"Sure, Ok."
"Thanks. After dinner, if you want, I'll help you with your studying."
"Thanks, I could use it."
"No problem. Come on, Nicholas, let's go."
"Bye Tommy."
"See ya Nicholas." Tommy replies.
Abby leads Nicholas outside and gets Tommy's bike. "Ready?"
He nods.
"Just let me go up and down the block a few times. I'm a little rusty."
"Ok." he says.
Abby rides around until she feels comfortable, and then calls out to Nicholas,
"Ready?"
"Yeah."
"OK, then watch this," Abby says, and does a wheelie as she rides past the
house.
Tom looks up from his typewriter out the window and back down again.
~No, it couldn't be.~ He slowly looks out again. "It is." he mumbles.
"Pretty good for a girl, huh?" Abby asks Nicholas.
"Yeah, awesome." he says
Tom comes out the front "What's going on here?"
"Abby was doing wheelies." Nicholas says proudly.
"Oh, is that what that was." Tom says.
Abby stops the bike. "You must have seen people doing wheelies before."
"Yeah, kids." he states.
"There's an age limit?"
"No, but Abby..." he begins and stops with Nicholas there.
"Nicholas, why don't you go put Tommy's bike away. Now that you know I can
do them, once your knees are healed I'll teach you how to do them safely,
OK?"
"Cool, thanks." he says as he takes the bike towards the back.
"OK, let's hear it," Abby sighs as soon as Nicholas is out of earshot.
"You could have been hurt."
"Tom, I know how to do a wheelie. You worry too much."
"I have a reason to worry."
~OK, what did Joan do...~ Abby sighs. "What reason?"
"I fell off David;s bike." he pouts.
"Poor Tom. But some of us are coordinated."
"I'm co-ordinated." he states.
"Any time I want to go dancing you tell me you have two left feet."
"Well....I..." he hems and haws. "Want to go dancing tonight?"
"Aren't you afraid I'll get hurt?" Abby teases.
"No, I'm afraid I will."
"Now, Tom, would I do something like that?"
"That's a loaded question." he jokes.
"And your answer?" Abby says, enjoying watching poor Tom squirm.
"Let's just say my life will be in your hands."
"Isn't it always?"
"Yeah." he admits
"Maybe I should let you off lightly this time."
"Hmm, how lightly?"
"Depends on what's in it for me."
"What do you want?"
"Why don't you make me an offer?"
"Dinner, flowers, maybe a little wine."
"Sounds like a good start."
Then Tom whispers in her ear about his other plans.
"I think doing wheelies is less likely to cause injury," Abby jokes.
"Funny."
"Seriously, Tom, you're going to have to learn to start trusting my judgment."
"I know."
"But knowing and doing are two separate things, so it's easier to wine me
and dine me."
"Look I'm sorry, alright?"
"You know, sometimes...Never mind. What's the use?" Abby sighs and starts
towards the house.
"No wait, what?"
"Sometimes I get tired of being treated like your child. Of being taught.
Of you holding up your experience as caution."
Tom sighs. "You are right."
"I know you...I'm right?" Abby says, surprised Tom's agreeing with her.
He nods.
"In theory."
"One of things I'll work on in therapy."
Abby nods. "When's your next visit?"
"Monday."
"OK." ~It's going to be a long weekend.~ "Did Joannie talk to you? She wanted
to do another rehearsal."
"I'll be glad when this thing is over."
"The show? You weren't that bad."
"Thanks, but not as good as you and Tommy."
"Thank you. Tommy is very talented, isn't he?"
"I supposed."
"Just suppose?"
"I just wished he put that energy into his school work."
"You make it sound like he never studies."
"That's not what I meant."
"Then what did you mean?"
"He could use the time that he uses for practicing to study."
"Tom..." Abby says, shaking her head.
"What?"
"No matter how much he studied before it wouldn't have helped much. And he
just started this new method. Give it some time."
Tom sighs. "Ok Ok."
Abby leans over and gives him a kiss.
"You know, I could use a little studying."
"Oh? Did you have a subject in mind?"
"Anatomy, preferably of the female kind."
"I don't know...It's not a subject that much interests me."
"How about the male kind."
"Ah, now that's a subject I find endlessly fascinating."
"I tell you what, you study the male anatomy and I study the female anatomy."
"Hmm... A study group?"
"I don't know. I'm very serious when I study."
"I can be serious."
"You? You're easily distracted."
"By what?"
"By a lot of things."
"Name one."
"Oh, I could name at least 8."
"That was unfair."
"But true," Abby points out.
"Abby what do you want me to do? Choose between you or the kids?"
"Sometimes, yes."
"You serious?"
"Yes...No...Sometimes, I think, yes."
Tom sighs. "I'm doing the best I can."
Abby, too, sighs. "I know."
"I'm sorry."
Abby shrugs. "Nothing to be sorry for."
"No?"
"You never led me to believe things would be any different than they are."
"But you were hoping."
"My illusions aren't your responsibility."
"No, but I wish I could make them realities."
"Maybe someday, when the kids are all grown and out of the house."
"I'll try and not make the wait unbearable."
"I know."
Tom gives her a kiss.
Abby hugs him lightly and then steps back.
"Lets go inside."
"Sure."
Tom leads her in.
"I should start dinner," Abby says.
"Can't that wait?"
"Until?"
"Until I have a chance to say how much I love you."
"I love you, too," Abby says. "But I really do have to start dinner."
Tom sighs. "Ok."
"Have any preferences?"
"No, anythings fine."
"Then anything it is."
He nods and retreats to the study
Abby heads into the kitchen.
"Hi Abby." Nancy says.
"Hey Abby." David says.
"Hi. You staying for dinner, David?"
He nods.
"Good."
"Need any help?" Nancy asks.
"Some ideas would be nice."
"Hmm, how long has it been since we had burgers?"
"A while, I think. Any objections?" she asks the others.
David shakes his head.
"Yay." Nicholas states.
"Then burgers it is."
"Yummy."
Abby starts assembling dinner.
Joannie walks in. "Oh, good. Just the people I need to see."
"What?" Nicholas asks.
"I think we need another rehearsal, and I haven't seen all of you yet to
ask you."
"Again?" he asks
"Dad could use the practice," Joannie jokes.
"Oh ok."
"I figure we don't really need to go on stage, if people don't have the time
for that. We could pull an Andy Rooney."
"Huh, who;'s he?"
"Joannie means that we can practice our acts in the living room," Abby explains.
David and Nancy agree.
"Oh."
"Those kids are really counting on us, Nicky."
"Really?" he asks
"Yep. You more than the rest of us, I'll bet."
"Me?"
"You're their age. If things had gone differently, they could have been like
you."
He nods.
"So they see you on that stage and some of them even pretend it's them."
"They do?"
"They do," Joannie nods.
"All right." he states
"Good. So after dinner, everyone in the living room."
"Yes." Nancy says.
"Ok." David says.
"I don't have any other plans," Abby says, not wanting to let Tom off as
easily as he'd like to be let off.
Elizabeth emerges from upstairs. "May I watch?"
"What are you doing down here?" Abby asks.
"Just wanted to get a drink."
"You should have called one of us."
"I know, but I was kind of bored."
"Elizabeth...Well, since you're down here, don't go right back up. You might
hurt yourself. But don't make a habit of this."
"I won't, so can I watch since I won't be able to go anyway."
"I suppose so."
"Thanks Abby."
"What do you want to drink?" Nancy asks.
"Root beer?"
Nancy gets her it.
"Thanks Nancy."
"You're welcome."
Liz starts drinking.
Nancy tries to remember what she needed to talk to Joannie about.
Afterwards, Nancy goes looking for Tommy, who is trying to study with the
new method.
"I guess this is a bad time."
"Hi Nancy." he sighs. "What's up?"
"Not much, I was wondering if Joannie had talked to you yet."
"No, why?"
"She wants to do another rehearsal."
Tommy sighs. "When?"
"I don't remember the exact time but late afternoon/ evening."
"Where?"
"The same place as before."
"Great." he sighs.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing, I just have a test Monday and I don't know how I will do."
"Is it something that one of us can quiz you on?"
"Maybe, after the show."
"Ok, I'm offering my quizzing services then unless you'd rather Mary or Abby?"
''I may need all three of you.''
"All three of us, why?"
"The more the merrier?" he jokes.
"Good thinking." She smiles.
Mary walks in. "What's good thinking?"
"Helping me study later."
"Who is?"
"Anyone who will."
"He needs us to quiz him later." Nancy says.
"Oh." Mary says. "I'm sorry Tommy I can't, not today anyway, I can Sunday."
Tommy nods. "OK."
"Sorry it can't be today."
"It's fine."
"Good."
While dinner is cooking Abby has some of the kids set the table, and then
she goes to call Tom. "Dinner is served," she announces.
Tom comes out of the study and takes his place at the table.
Abby serves dinner. ~Not even a word about his wining and dining me tonight.~
"Excuse me I am not hungry." Tom says and leaves the table.
~Typical~ Abby thinks. She glares at Tom's retreating back and sits down.
Tom returns a half hour later dressed to the nines. "Anyone want a date?"
he says looking at his wife.
"A date?" Abby repeats.
"Yeah, you know maybe dancing and a little wine."
"Tom, we're in the middle of dinner here."
"I'm sure that everyone can fend for themselves for a couple of hours."
"I'd like to finish my dinner, if you don't mind."
"Fine I'll wait." he says standing next to her chair.
Abby eats a few bites. "You're not going to stand there and watch me eat,
are you?"
"I'm not watching you eat."
Tommy and Nicholas quietly chuckles.
"What about rehearsal?" Nancy says.
"We'll be back in time."
"Ok."
"You must be planning a short date," Abby says, "since we're supposed to
rehearse right after dinner."
"Short dates aren't fun Dad." Mary says.
David gives her a dirty look.
"Nancy's right. We can't do anything until after rehearsal," Abby says, happy
for another excuse.
"They can be fun, if you do it right." Tom states. "We'll be back in time,
and I am sure Joannie can work with the others first. Right Joannie?" he
says not really in an asking tone.
"Um...well..." Joannie looks back and forth at Tom and Abby.
"Joannie...." he asks again in case she didn't hear his tone.
Joannie refuses to be utterly cowed. "Dad, you and Nicholas are on first,"
she pleads.
"Look everyone, I need to spend some time with my wife alone." Tom says in
frustration. "Away from the house. So I ask for some flexibility here."
"What's wrong with waiting till after the rehearsal?" Mary braves it out.
"They're adults they shouldn't have to wait." David says. "Right Nancy?"
"I'm only 19 leave me alone." She uses as a defense.
"Why am I even asking? I'm the father here." Tom states.
"Dad, you have to rehearse with Nicholas. And he does have a bedtime," Joannie
points out.
Tom just sighs. "Fine, you win. We will go out after, if Abby will go with
me."
"Oh, you're asking?" Abby says.
"I asked earlier and I thought it was decided?"
"I thought it was decided and then undecided."
Tom rubs his forhead "I'm confused."
"Doesn't surprise me," Abby mutters.
"Excuse me?"
"Nothing."
David braves it out, and Mary fiddles with her food. Nancy takes her plate
and glass upstairs to eat there.
"No, you have something to say just say it," Tom says.
"Let's just finish dinner and have our rehearsal, shall we?" Abby says sweetly.
"I'll be in the study, Joannie call me when I am next."
"I will."
Tom goes to the study. ~Damn if you do or don't.~
Abby starts clearing the table. ~He can sure abandon the kids when it suits
him.~
Mary helps her.
"Thanks."
"Not a problem, you ok?"
"Sure."
"Hey, Mary," Joannie says. "I'll wash if you dry."
Mary gives Abby you can talk to me later if you want look and then turns
to Joannie. "Ok."
"Abby, why don't you go work with Tommy. I think I hear him going over your
songs," Joannie suggests.
"Well, I know when I'm not wanted," Abby jokes, and heads to the living room.
"Ok what's up?" Mary asks Joannie.
"Wish I knew. What got into Dad?"
"I don't know, it's almost like he's losing his touch."
"Maybe he's finally flipped."
"Should we call the nice men in white coats?"
"It might too late."
"It's never too late."
"Then maybe we should."
"Are you serious?"
"Are you?"
"About counseling, yes."
"What do you suggest we do? Say, 'hey Dad, we think you need your head shrunk'?"
"Maybe we can have David talk to him."
"Think he'll agree to do it?"
"I don't know but it's worth a try."
"You're right."
"I think he's with Dad right now."
"Then we'll have to wait to talk to him."
Mary nods. "There's so much waiting in life."
"Too much. We should just go out and do things, you know?"
"Yeah I know, but when is there ever time anymore?"
"We just have to make the time."
"That we do."
"So, after the dishes, a stake out?"
"Yes, a stake out."
Joannie extends a wet, soapy hand.
Mary hands her a clean towel.
Tommy and Nicholas go into the living room. Tommy quietly practices the notes
for the rehearsal.
"You ok?" Tommy asks,
"Sure. Joannie suggested we get a little extra practice in."
"Ok...."
"Thanks."
"You ready Abby?" Tommy asks
"Whenever you are."
Elizabeth is eating her dinner in bed. "Hey whats up?"
"There's fixing to be a fight at the dinner table and I don't want to witness
is. Mind if I join you for dinner?" Nancy says.
"Sure and who?"
"Dad and Abby."
"You are kidding."
"You sound surprised, it's something that married couples do."
"No, I mean out in the open."
"Oh yeah, that was very uncomfortable."
"I bet."
"And I didn't want to get in the middle of it."
Liz nods. "What was the fight about?"
Nancy tells her.
"Oh.."
"Oh?"
"Just an Oh."
"Oh." Nancy says. "That's cool."
Meanwhile downstairs David goes and knocks on his fathers study door.
"Come in." he says
David walks in with a plate for Tom. "Hey there."
"Hi, David."
"I thought you might be hungry."
"Thanks, but not really."
"Do you want to talk about it?"
"I can't David, but I appreciate the concern." Tom says knowing he'd be in
worse trouble with Abby by talking about their private lives.
David nods. "If you change your mind."
Tom smiles at him. 'Thanks son."
David smiles back and leaves the room.
In the living room, Tommy starts.
Abby begins to sing.
Tom hears this from the study and opens the door. ~She has a voice of an
angel~ Tom thinks.
Nancy comes downstairs with she and Elizabeth's dishes and stops at the kitchen
door when she hears Abby singing.
In between songs Abby notices the crowd they've attracted and nudges Tommy.
"Looks like your fan club has gathered," she whispers.
"No, I think its you."
"I'd clap but my hands are full." Nancy says.
"We'll consider ourselves clapped," Abby smiles.
"Cool." She smiles back. "I know I've already said it but you two are very
good."
"Thanks."
"You're welcome." She says and goes to wash she and Elizabeth's dishes.
Joannie finishes the dishes and walks to the doorway. She notices her father
standing at the study door and smiles. ~Men are so predictable.~
Mary also notices and smiles.
"Maybe he doesn't need the shrink after all."
"Maybe."
"Think someone ought to tell him to stop drooling in public?"
"Not me."
"Not me, either. Besides, it's kind of cute."
"Sure is."
"Think we ought to tell him that?"
She glances in the kitchen at their unsuspecting sister. "Let's make Nancy
do it."
"You're so mean. Hey, Nance...."
"Yeah?" Nancy answers.
"Get a look at Dad."
She walks over to her sisters and looks at her Dad. "What about him?"
"Think he needs a towel for all that drool?"
Nancy gets a closer look. "Why yes I do."
"Why don't you go give him one?"
"Because I wasn't born yesterday."
"But everyone says you've got such a youthful look."
"No way Joannie, I'm not doing it."
"Sure, OK. I just hope you can swim."
"It's only going to get worse." Mary says.
"So you get him a towel Mary. I'm not going to embarass him and myself."
"Why embarrass? I think it's cute," Joannie says.
"I don't want Dad mad at me." Nancy says.
"But it's ok if he's mad at me." Mary goads her.
"No, hey maybe it will sound more innocent coming from Nicholas." Nancy suggests.
"He can go up to Dad and hand him the towel and say he's wet and he won't
even know about the drool."
"Oh, let's leave it, at least until Abby notices. Maybe it'll solve whatever
they were fighting over."
"It's worth a try." Nancy agrees.
"I'll go get our swim fins and bathing suits."
"Don't forget the snorkles and masks." Mary says.
"And the hunky lifeguard?"
"Absolutely." Nancy says.
"OK, you got it."
"Thanks Joannie, hey you need any help?"
"Nope, we're all done. I'd start the rehearsal, but I hate to interrupt this
play."
"I hear ya."
"Let's pull up some chairs while we wait."
Mary and Nancy do this.
Joannie does, too, and sits and watches like an appreciative audience.
As do Nancy and Mary. Soon David joins them.
"Pull up a chair," Joannie says.
He does this and sits down. "What's going on?"
"Nothing yet, but I'll bet Dad and Abby are going to make up soon."
"That's a relief, but what makes you say that?"
"Look at the way Dad's looking at Abby."
"Ahh." He says in understanding.
"Wanna make bets on how long she'll resist?"
"Sure, what are the stakes?"
"Name 'em."
"I'll start at 20."
"But how long are you betting it takes?"
"Five seconds tops."
"OK, you're on. 20 bucks says it'll take at least a minute."
"I'll put 25 on 62 seconds." Nancy says.
"Do I hear a minute and a half?" Joannie asks in her best (whispered)
auctioneer's voice.
"I'll take it." Mary says.
"Do I hear two minutes?"
Sam glances up at her wagging his tail.
"Sam, where are you going to get money?"
Nancy laughs. "I'll spot him."
"OK. Anyone want to bet on longer?"
Nancy, David, and Mary pass.
"OK, who's timing it?"
"I will." Mary says.
"Whenever you're ready."
Mary starts the timer on her watch. "Now."
Abby looks in Tom's direction. "Maybe some of them are just here to complain
about the noise."
Tommy looks at his Dad. "Abby, he's flirting with you."
"Sure," Abby scoffs.
"He is, I know."
"Well, it takes more than flirting..."
Tommy shrugs ~Poor Dad.~
Abby sneaks a glance at Tom. ~But flirting's not a bad start.~
He winks at her.
Abby pretends to glare at him.
He smiles at her.
Abby turns back to her music, but after a minute looks up at Tom again.
He gazes at her.
Abby gives him a tentative smile.
He smiles back.
"Joannie, are Abby and I through?"
"Oh, um, sure. Have a good time," Joannie says, hoping Nicholas doesn't object.
Nicholas sighs in relief.
"Thanks." Tom says.
He goes to Abby, "You are very good."
"Thanks. You sure you don't want to run through your act with Nicholas? I'm
sure you'll be great."
"I'll do it in the morning. So, may I have the honor of a date?"
"Where were you thinking of taking me?"
"The only one I would want to go out with."
"I'd assumed. But where?"
"Dancing; a little wine."
"That morgue of yours?"
"No, any place of your choosing."
"Well, I'll have to think about where..."
"OK, I'll wait."
"Just let me run upstairs and change."
Tom nods.
Abby gives him a kiss on the cheek on her way out of the room and upstairs.
Tom smiles and starts whistling.
"How long?" Joannie asks Mary.
"Two minutes and 23 seconds. The money goes to Sam."
"What's a dog going to do with the money?"
"Hmm, we can use it to buy him some stuff." Nancy says. "Like a new
collar and leash, some toys, some treats."
"What do you say, Sam?" Joannie asks.
He makes that noise some dogs make when people say they're talking.
"OK, then treats for Sam it is."
He goes over to her and gives her kisses.
Joannie pets him. "Ah, doggie breath. Reminds me of my last boyfriend."
Nancy and Mary laugh.
"I'm surprised Abby held out so long."
"She probably wanted to keep him guessing." David says.
"Guessing what? We all knew what the answer would be--the only question was
when."
"Well I thought you women loved keeping men guessing." He shrugs.
"You know, that explains a lot," Joannie teases him.
"And what's that supposed to mean?" He takes the bait.
"Oh, just thinking of some of your girlfriends."
"What about my girlfriends?"
"So you admit to having more than one." Nancy chimes in.
"I admit to nothing." He protests.
"He wants to keep us guessing," Joannie stage whispers.
"Ahh I see." Nancy plays along.
"Tommy!! Nicholas!!" David seeks out male company.
"What?" they say.
He goes and sits by them.
"They badgering?" Tommy says.
"They sure are."
"Be glad you don't live here 24/7." he says.
"I'm happy about that everyday."
"I envy you." Tommy says.
"Don't envy me too much."
"Why not?"
"Living on your own has its disadvantages."
"I can't think of any."
"Ever heard of Bill?"
"Oh."
"But other than that, it's great." David admits. "I just wish Bill
would leave me alone."
Tommy and Nicholas laugh.
So does David
Home
