Mis-steps part 2b
The next day in the backyard.
"Hey Joannie." Nancy says.
"Hey, Nancy. What's up?"
"Nada, how are you holding up?"
"I'm not the one who's hurting."
"Just checking."
"And you?"
"Angry, worried. Out for blood."
"For her sake or for yours?"
"Hers."
"Think it'll help her?"
"She'd be safe from him."
"Or she'll have to live with your being hurt by him, too."
Nancy thinks this over. "I didn't think of that."
"That's what older sisters are for."
Nancy finally manages a smile.
"Other than that, how are you holding up?"
"Trying to keep busy."
"With?"
"Concentrating on Elizabeth, Noah, and work."
"Spend some time with Noah today. It'll do you good."
"But what if Liz needs me today?"
"She'll make do with one of us."
"Ok, but if she does ask for me will you call me?"
"I promise."
"Thank you." She goes inside and tells Tom and Abby where she'll be.
"Have fun." Tom says. ~Glad someone can.~
"Ok," ~if I can get my mind off what's happened which is very unlikely.~
After Nancy leaves. Joannie sees that Elizabeth is sitting in the sun porch. She sits down next to her sister. "How are you?" she asks gently.
"I wish people would stop asking me that." Liz says angrily.
"Sorry," Joannie says. After a minute she says, "OK, if I can't ask how you are, how am I?"
Elizabeth is shocked by the question and laughs. "I'm sorry. I just don't know how I am."
"That's OK. I'm not sure how I am, either. Perfectly normal, or at least as normal as any Bradford gets."
"I think I would have been worse if Abby hadn't have been here."
"We could have..." Joannie automatically begins, "I'm glad she could help you."
"So how is the play coming?"
"Can you keep a secret?"
Elizabeth nods.
"There is no play."
"But why the late nights?" Elizabeth asks.
"Better than running away, right? None of gets too far when we try that."
"I still don't understand why?"
"Well, since you're still keeping my secrets--I'm not sure myself. Maybe I'm going through a midlife crisis."
"I doubt that, what's wrong?" Elizabeth asks glad the attention is off her.
"I don't know--that's half the problem. I'm just antsy and discontent."
"Sounds like growing pains to me." she tells her.
"I'm too old for that."
"Nah, you still act like a child." She jokes.
Joannie looks around for a pillow to launch at her sister.
"OK OK, I am sorry."
"No, I'm sorry. I probably have been acting pretty childish lately."
"Sometimes I wish I was a kid, especially now."
"Then David would beat the guy up, like he did whenever other kids were mean to us."
"Sounds good to me." She chuckles then tears start to flow.
Joannie hugs her and pats her hair.
Meanwhile upstairs Tom asks Abby "When do you think we should approach Elizabeth about pressing charges?"
"I don't think we ever should, but I suppose we'll have to, and pretty soon, especially if she's going to have to see him every day at school."
"I know." Tom tells her. "But the longer we wait the harder it will be."
"You're right, but how do we approach her? We can't just say, 'Hey, Elizabeth, do you want to try to get that jerk sent to jail? Of course, they might tear your reputation to shreds in the process...'."
"Very carefully, come on we might as well get this over with."
"If you think it's best..."
"No, but what choice do we have?"
"I just wish we could have one normal, quiet week, you know?"
"Yeah, I am sorry." he replies.
"Sorry? What are you sorry about?"
"Not exactly what I had planned when we got married." Tom says.
"This family thrives on crises and disaster. If it hadn't been for one, we wouldn't have met, right?"
Tom hugs her. "There's good that comes from everything."
"Wish I could figure out what good's coming of what's going on now, aside from you and I standing here talking and avoiding going to Elizabeth."
"I supposed we should stop procrastinating and go talk to her." Tom sighs. "Where is she anyway?"
"It's not that big a house. We'll find her."
"Let's try downstairs."
"Lead the way, General."
Tom finds Elizabeth in the sun porch and tells Abby. "Maybe we shouldn't interrupt them."
"Come on. I'll treat you to a cup of coffee and when they're done we'll go in."
"With Pie ala mode?" Tom asks.
"A double scoop," Abby promises.
"You got yourself a deal."
Abby prepares the coffee and the pie ala mode.
"Thanks." Tom says.
After a while, Elizabeth stops crying. "Thanks." she says to Joannie.
"That's what big sisters are for."
"Oh, they are good for something?" she jokes.
Joannie pretends to glare at her sister. "We're good for preparing ice cream sundaes, too, if you want."
"Hot fudge?" she asks
"If we've got it, or if not, if you're willing to wait for me to get some."
"OK." Elizabeth says.
"Let's go into the kitchen and check."
They go into the kitchen and find Tom and Abby eating Pie ala mode.
"Any ice cream left?" Liz asks.
"A little--two or three servings, so keep this party quiet, OK?"
"Enough for a hot fudge sundae for 2?" Liz points to Joannie.
"Just about. Grab it while it's still there."
Elizabeth sits down. "Well?" she asks Joannie.
"Yes, ma'am," Joannie salutes and starts building the sundae. She parks it in front of Elizabeth and hands her a spoon. "Do your worst, sister."
"Thank you, maybe older sisters are good for something."
Joannie smears a little ice cream on Elizabeth's nose.
Tom laughs. ~Darn, I hate to break her mood.~
"Elizabeth, uh Abby and I need to talk to you about something,"
"I think that's my cue to leave," Joannie says. "Save me some of the ice cream, kid," she tells Elizabeth.
"Joannie, thank you." Tom tells her.
"Elizabeth, we were wondering if you have been thinking about pressing charges against Peter."
"I can't." Elizabeth says playing with her ice cream.
"Why not? What he did was wrong."
"I hear what goes on in these date rape cases, the guy always win."
"Not always." Tom says.
"He did drug you. Dr. Max called and said there were still traces in your blood when he tested you."
"But what if I do press charges and he walks? Then what?" Elizabeth says almost hysterically.
"Elizabeth, calm down." Tom says. "Let's just take it one step at a time alright?"
"But how?" Liz asks
"Well....I guess the first thing we do is file a report and see what the police say." Tom suggests.
"We'll go with you to the police," Abby adds.
"I don't know...." she says.
"You don't have to make a decision, just go down there and tell them what happened." Tom says.
"You'll both come with me?" Liz asks.
"Absolutely." Tom tells her.
"OK." she concedes.
"The sooner we do this, the better," Abby says.
"I'll call them and see when they can see us." Tom says.
Elizabeth nods.
At the lake.
"Do you want to tell me what's wrong?" Noah asks.
"Nothing's wrong." She insists.
"Yeah right. Come on out with it."
"Noah I can't tell anyone ok."
"Not even me."
"Not even you."
"Fine be that way." He says angrily.
"What is wrong with you? There are some things that I can't tell you can't you accept that?"
"No I guess I can't. I think I'll walk home." He says as he starts to leave.
"Fine you selfish jerk." She snaps at him.
He leaves and soon she goes home.
Tommy can see her pouting. "Hey what's wrong?"
"Noah can't understand why I can't tell him what's wrong. So instead of trusting me he got angry."
"Bummer, but why can't you say anything?"
"Because I don't think Elizabeth wants the rest of the world knowing yet."
"Noah is your boyfriend, not the rest of the world."
"I know but still."
"Only one way to find out. Talk to Elizabeth."
"But how? I can't just say. 'Hey sis is it ok if I tell Noah?' "
"I don't know." Tommy tells her. "I am just making suggestions." He says just as frustrated.
She sighs. "I wish bad things would stop happening to this family."
"I know."
"Any idea if charges are going to be pressed?"
"No, I don't think Dad and Abby have talked to her about it yet."
"Oh ok."
"Want to play a game of checkers?"
"Sure."
They play checkers.
After playing checkers with Tommy Nancy finds her Dad and Abby in the kitchen.
~I wonder if he told her about the gun incident. I hope not.~
"Hi Nancy, feeling better?" Tom asks
"I guess, how's Lizzie?"
Tom looks at Abby for that answer.
"Better, I think. A little, at least."
"That's good right?"
"Can't be bad."
"Yeah." She gets something to drink.
"How is Noah?" Tom says.
"Noah is off somewhere soothing his wounded ego."
"That doesn't sound good," Abby says.
She sighs. "I probably shouldn't have gone to see him. He knows something's wrong and he's angry that I wouldn't tell him what it was."
"And he wouldn't accept it when you said you were worried about one of your siblings and leave it at that?"
"Actually I didn't even tell him that much."
"Why not? That much wouldn't have been breaking any confidences."
"I didn't think of it."
"What if you went and told him now?"
She shakes her head.
"Why not?"
"Well all right." She very slowly makes her way over to Noah's and knocks on the door.
Noah answers the door. "What do you want?" he asks Nancy.
"To not leave things the way we left it." Nancy says. "I'm just worried about one of my siblings right now. I didn't think it would make you so angry."
"You're always worried about your family. You're always letting it get between us."
"And you never worry about your family?"
"I don't let it come between us. What happened, anyway? Tommy break up with some girl, or did Joannie chip a fingernail?"
"You're unbelievable." She starts to get angry again.
"I'm unbelievable? You're the one who keeps pulling away from me, with your work, your family. I mean, it's not like someone was hurt or anything, right?"
Her eyes well with tears. "Would you care if they were?" She walks away.
Noah follows her. "Of course I would." He sees the tears. "What happened, Nancy? Was someone hurt?"
"Yes, but right now they need their privacy, can you please try to understand that."
"Why didn't you tell me that right from that start? If someone had hurt my sister..."
"I wasn't thinking clearly, and how do you know it's one of my sisters?"
"I didn't--I was talking about if it were my family, and I don't have brothers. Which of your sisters was hurt?"
"As soon as I can I'll tell you."
"Was she hurt badly?"
"She'll be ok physically, but emotionally it's going to take a long time."
"The sedan's still in your driveway," Noah says, trying to figure out what happened.
"Yeah it likes it there."
"I'm sorry I wasn't understanding before."
"It's ok." She kisses him.
"You know the only good thing about fighting with you?"
"Making up?"
He kisses her. "You're so smart."
"I love you." She returns the kiss.
"I love you, too, but I wish you'd just explain things the first time around."
"I'm sorry."
"Trust me next time, OK?"
"Ok." She smiles.
"They need you at home, or do you have time to go for an ice cream--or a salad, in your case?"
"I have time for a salad. I just need to let Dad and Abby know first."
"I'll come in with you and say hello."
"Ok." They go inside. "We're going out for awhile." She tells Tom and Abby.
Noah looks around, trying to see if he can tell who's hurt.
"We won't be gone long."
"Have fun," Abby says, then remembers that's what she told Elizabeth. And even though Noah's not Peter..."Be careful."
"We will be don't worry." Nancy and Noah then leave.
Later at the place they go they're about to head out after eating when they run into Peter. Something inside Nancy snaps and she leaps at the boy and wraps her hands around his throat. "You son of a ...."
"What's the matter, beautiful, your boyfriend not good enough for you? I could help you out there," Peter says.
"You know very well what's wrong!!" Nancy screams at him.
"I think you'd better go outside and calm down, sweetheart," Peter tells her.
"Don't call me that."
"Your sister didn't mind when I called her that."
Nancy socks him in the jaw.
Noah puts two and two together having seen Liz leave with Peter the night before. Peter is about to strike Nancy back so Noah intervenes. "Don't even think about laying a hand on her."
"Who needs *her*? I've had better," Peter smirks.
Noah is about to hit him when one of his friends stops him.
"Don't do it man he's underage."
Peter pulls himself together and starts to walk away. "Send Liz my regards."
Nancy lunges at him again and starts pounding on him with her fists. Security pulls her off of him and takes her to the back room to cool off and then calls her parents.
Peter leaves after the manager tells him never to come back.
Moments later in his office.
"Your parents are on their way young lady. You're lucky I didn't call the police." He tells her.
"The police? Someone should call the police on that little punk!!" Noah rages.
"Noah." Nancy tries to calm him and then turns to the manager. "I'm sorry I normally don't do things like that."
Soon of the employees comes in. "Her mother is here."
"Ok send her in."
Joannie walks in, dressed in one of Abby's work outfits. "Nancy, do you want to explain what happened?"
Nancy does a double take but soon gets herself together. "I'm sorry Mom, he just really upset me."
"You can take her home but if this happens again I'm calling the police." The manager says.
"Thank you," Joannie says. "I'll make sure it never happens again. And you, young lady," she glares at Nancy, "are grounded. Indefinitely."
"But Mom." She pretends to protest all the way out. Moments later at the car.
"I think that deserved an Oscar." Nancy says.
"Tell that to the casting director," Joannie grumbles. "What the hell was that about?"
Noah gives them their privacy.
"Peter decided to show up here. You should have heard some of the things he said. I couldn't control myself so I started beating him up."
"Did it help anything?"
"No, but Joannie you should have heard what he said. Mother Theresa would have clobbered him."
"Yeah, but she wouldn't have risked getting arrested."
Nancy sighs not having an answer for that one.
"You going to do anything like that again?"
"What am I supposed to do? Let him say things like that. He should be in jail anyway."
"What if Liz doesn't want everyone knowing what happened? Your getting busted won't help her."
"I know, and if I see him again I'll just walk away."
"Good. Now--what did he say?"
Nancy tells Joannie everything Peter said.
"That...that..." Joannie is speechless.
"See what I mean."
"But we have to focus on how Liz's going to deal with it when she goes back to school, not beating him up."
"Ok." Nancy agrees. "Hey thanks for not telling Dad and Abby."
"Don't thank me yet."
"What do you mean?"
"I think we have to tell Dad and Abby about what Peter's saying."
"And they'll want to know how we know."
"You got it. But we have to say something, and we can't just blurt it out to Elizabeth."
"I know."
"If you want, I'll go with you to tell them."
"Thank you." Nancy says.
Joannie pulls into the driveway. "Well, now's as good a time as any."
Nancy says goodnight to Noah and then they go inside. "Dad, Abby, we need to talk to you."
"Yes?" Tom says.
"Alone."
"OK, lets go in the study then." All four of them go to the study.
"Well, why do my two daughters look like they have seen a ghost?" Tom asks.
"I'd rather have seen a ghost," Joannie says.
"Noah and I saw Peter tonight."
Suddenly Tom face turns white.
"Some of the things he said weren't very nice and my reaction wasn't all that great either." She tells them the rest.
"He said that?" Abby is stunned. "Tom, who knows what he's telling all his friends, if he said that to Nancy? Who knows what he's telling Elizabeth's friends?"
"I know." Tom says. "Nancy, do you realize you could have been arrested or worse?"
"Yes."
"First the gun incident." Tom lets slip out. "and now this?"
"Gun incident?" Abby says. "What gun incident?"
Nancy remains silent.
"Tom? What gun incident?"
Tom tells her what happened the previous morning.
"You know, Tom, if you'd have gotten rid of all the guns in this house..." Abby starts
"I know, you can lecture me later alright?" Tom says.
Abby shakes her head. "Fine. Don't think I won't."
Tom dreads what the later evening holds for him.
"Abby please don't be mad at Dad. That was my bad decision."
"Yes, it was, and you and I will have a long talk about that later."
"Ok." She returns to the previous conversation. "Dad, I couldn't just stand there and listen to him talk that way after what he did to her. I'll walk away if I see him again ok."
"OK." Tom sighs. "I guess I would have done the same thing."
Nancy sighs in relief. "The main thing now, is how are we going to get Elizabeth through this."
"Very gently."
"That's not going to be easy. Abby and I had a hard time convincing Elizabeth to at least talk to the police about pressing charges."
"Is she going to talk to them?"
"We have an appointment in the morning." Tom says.
"Good."
"One question, Joannie how did you become involved with this?" Tom asks curiously.
"The manager called and wanted someone responsible to pick Nancy up," Joannie stretches the truth. "You two were busy, so I elected myself."
"And she did a very good job lecturing me." Nancy puts in a good word for her.
"Oh, in that case. Thanks." Tom says. ~not wanting to know the whole truth of it.~ he smiles at her.
"Any time, Dad. Anything I can do to help."
"I guess we should go see how Elizabeth is."
"Why don't Nancy and I do that?" Joannie suggests. "You two look like you could use a break."
Nancy nods.
"Oh yes, gee. I promised Max I would lend him my fishing pole. I better get it over to him." Tom says.
"Don't worry, Tom--I promised I'd save it for this evening," Abby says, knowing exactly why he's trying to run away. "But I think it is a good ideas, you going over to Max."
"Oh?"
"Just because I'm angry at you doesn't mean I'm not worried about you. And spending some time talking to Max might be good for you."
Nancy and Joannie leave the room in search of Elizabeth.
"I supposed. I better get going then." Tom says
"I guess so. Don't worry if you come back late--I'll wait up for you."
"That's what I am afraid of." He mutters quietly to himself.
After Elizabeth goes to sleep for the night, Abby goes on a search mission for her husband, determined to give him the threatened lecture.
She finds him in bed pretending to be asleep.
"Nice try, Tom. But you're not snoring."
He starts snoring.
"Cute. I'll have to remember that trick when you try to get my attention in bed."
Tom pretends to wake up. "Oh, I'm sorry. Were you talking to me?"
"No, I've taken to calling myself Tom lately. Of course I was talking to you."
Tom sits up in bed. "Ok, let me have it."
"How many more guns do we have in this house?" she asks.
Tom sighs. "Just a couple of hunting rifles."
"Get rid of them."
"No Abby, David has taken the guns and locked them away."
"And when one of the other kids get a hold of the key?"
"That's not going to happen." he says.
"Last week you would have said that none of the kids would have taken the gun, planning to use it to hurt another person."
"You are right, but I gave the key to the gun cabinet to David."
"You don't even go hunting any more. Why do we need guns in the house?"
"Just in case I ever do want to go hunting, maybe one day Tommy or Nicholas will want to go." Tom says.
"Do you keep your little black book, just in case you ever need to date again?"
"No of course not." Tom says. "That's ridiculous."
"But guns you'll keep, just in case. And what are you planning to hunt with a pistol, any way?"
"It was just my old gun from Korea."
"It's a weapon, and Nancy intended to shoot someone with it."
Tom remembers how scared he felt. "Don't you think I know that? I was intending to turn the pistol over to the police tomorrow. So they can destroy it."
Abby sees the look on Tom's face and takes a little pity on him. "You don't have to do that--have the firing pin removed. I doubt Nancy will want to chip her fingernails putting it back next time she decides to go try to kill someone."
"But, I thought you just said to get rid of it?"
"The pistol's got sentimental value, so as long as it can't be used. But the rifles--those I do want you to get rid of. I can't think of a single good reason why we need them."
"My family has more sentimental value than that pistol does. What if we compromise. I'll remove the firing pin and give it to David along with the rifles, OK?"
"Why give the rifles to David? Sell them. Give them to the police. Just get rid of them. You know how I feel about guns--why keep them in the family?"
"Because he is an adult and maybe he would like them, if he doesn't I'll get rid of them."
"Fine. I'll talk to David about it in the morning."
"We have an appointment at the police station in the morning, remember?"
"I'll talk to him before that. Or in the afternoon--I'll call him when he gets home from work."
"So are we going to make up before we go to bed?" Tom asks.
"You haven't given in to me and I haven't given in to you, so how do we accomplish that miracle?"
"Let's call David now." Tom suggests.
"It's a little late," Abby says. "What are you going to say, 'David, we need to talk to you so we don't go to bed angry?' He'll think we're crazy."
"For David, this time of evening is just starting for him." Tom says and dials David's number anyway.
The phone is soon answered. "What do you want we're busy." A giggling woman says.
Tom suddenly blushes. "Uh, is David there?" ~Of course he's there.~ "Let me talk to David, this is his father."
"Um, oh uh yeah." She hands the phone to David. "It's your Dad."
He kisses her and takes the phone. "Hi Dad what's up?"
"David, uh I am sorry to be calling but I need to ask you an important question. I am going to get rid of the rifles and my gun and I was wondering if you want them." Tom spills it all out in nearly one sentence.
"Actually Dad I don't want them, but thanks anyway."
"Really?" Tom is shocked.. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah I'm sure, I got to thinking. If my brothers and sisters know that I have the guns if they really want to they can still get a hold of them why don't you just get rid of them."
"Now you sound like Abby, well OK then. I'll get rid of them."
"Abby's a smart woman."
"Yeah." Tom replies. "Well I'll let you get back to whatever.....well anyway goodnight."
"Goodnight Dad."
Tom hangs up and tries to figure out a way to apologize. "I don't suppose you'll take a simple 'I'm Sorry.' for an apology."
"Maybe a simple 'you're right, I'm wrong, I'm sorry'," Abby answers.
Tom swallows his male pride and says. "You're right, I was wrong and I am sorry."
Abby cuddles up to him. "I love the way you say that."
"No, what you like is that you won." He chuckles.
"I'm right, so why shouldn't I be glad you finally saw the light?"
"I am glad for one thing though." He says.
"Which is?"
"Besides from the fact that we made up, is that we did it before going with Elizabeth tomorrow."
"Whether we had or not, I wouldn't have argued with you in front of her. She has enough on her mind; this is between the two of us."
"Oh I know that. It is just that we can give her our full support without having to worry about this too."
"Which *this* were you referring to?" Abby asks, a little too sweetly.
"If I didn't know better, I would say you are coming on to me." he replies happily.
"If I didn't know better, I would say you don't sound too upset by the idea."
Tom smiles and kisses her passionately. "Fighting with you isn't half bad." he jokes.
"Wait until we really fight, someday. Then you'll know just how good it can be."
"Do I have to wait that long?"
"Well, we could start the fight over again, try to get it right his time," Abby teases.
"How about we just skip the fights and go to the make up parts?" he suggests
"Where's the fun in that?"
"If its fun you want, I can give you fun." He replies.
"And what about your flu?"
"Flu? What flu?" he jokes.
"Right. Just remember that my definition of fun does not include getting sneezed on..."
Tom turns out the light.
~Why do I always forget the man can't take a joke?~ Abby sighs. "Well, good night, then."
Tom suddenly kisses her.
Abby starts to say something, then decides that discretion is the better part of a good time, and puts her mouth to other uses.
The next morning Abby leaves Tom snoring in bed while she gets ready for their visit to the police station, then goes to wake Elizabeth
"Five more minutes." Liz replies and pulls the blanket over her head.
Abby debates allowing her the extra time, but decides against it. "Come on, Elizabeth, before the line for the bathroom starts."
Elizabeth groans and gets out of bed. "I decided I am not going."
"If you really want those extra five minutes..." Abby bargains.
"Abby, I am serious. I mean he probably didn't mean to do it." Liz says denying what happened to her and not knowing what happened between Nancy and Peter the day before.
"Liz, why don't you get dressed, and then the two of us can discuss this over breakfast?"
"OK, but I am not going to change my mind." Elizabeth gets dress and goes downstairs.
"Elizabeth," Abby says as she puts cups of coffee down for both of them. "I know you must be nervous about this, but what he did was wrong, and he should have to pay for it."
"Abby, I need to tell you something. This wasn't my first time."
"What? But you kept asking me..."
"Don't you see? That's why I can't go down there, they will assume I asked for it."
"Do you think every woman who gets assaulted was a virgin before? Even old ladies get assaulted, you know. And it wouldn't matter if you'd slept with every single boy at Sacramento Central High aside from Tommy--he had no right to do what he did. And if you let him get away with it, he'll do it again to someone else."
"He wouldn't be that stupid..."
"He would if he has a problem." Nancy says as she walks in having heard part of the conversation.
"He doesn't have a problem." Liz says.
~Oh yes he does!!~
"Any one stupid enough to do it once and who gets away with it..." Abby offers/
"So you are saying I should go ahead and press charges no matter how much they are going to attack my reputation."
"What I'm saying is that your reputation may get attacked one way or the other--maybe this way you'll be fighting back."
"I know you don't want him to get away with it." Nancy says as she pours a cup of coffee.
"What do you know about it anyway?" Liz attacks Nancy. "You weren't there."
Nancy flinches. "I'm sorry I guess I don't know anything about it." She lies.
"So you agree with Abby then?"
"Yes I do agree with Abby."
"You wouldn't say that if was you."
"We're not talking about me. We're talking about you."
"But Dad doesn't know."
"He does think you ought to go to the police."
"But he doesn't know about my *history*"
"It wouldn't make a difference, he'd still think you should go."
"OK. Fine, you two win. I'll go."
"I can skip work and come with if you'd like?"
Elizabeth looks at Abby. "Can she come with us?"
"Anyone you want to can come with us."
"If you sure you want to come."
"Of course I'm sure. Thanks Abby."
Abby glances at her watch. "I'd better go make sure your father is up."
"By the way, why are Dad's guns sitting next to the door? Is someone going hunting or something?"
~Sitting next to the door? Where just anyone could get to them?~ Abby doesn't answer Elizabeth in her haste to get to the guns and lock them up. She picks them up and carries them upstairs to her bedroom.
"What's with her?" Liz asks Nancy
"I don't know." Nancy tries to avoid answering.
"This family gets weirder everyday." Liz says as she goes finishes getting ready.
~I guess Abby is afraid I'll take a gun and go finish Peter off. Can't really blame her. Going to be awhile before her and Dad trust me again.~ She also goes upstairs to get ready.
