As part of our academic curriculum we have a project in 8th Semester which
is intended to be full time project cum training. The
project is to be justified to be a full-semester worth project. The
project is either to be live or parallel or of any status but it is to be
worth called a "Full-Semester " project.
Let me be frank in this matter and explain the whole whoops and loops I
had suffered in achieveing the project for the final semester. Though our
college had campus interviews for the projects I wanted to go on my own,
to achieve an excellent project, but the main thing in my think-tank was
to know how to approach for a project before the company. Perhaps the only
whirlwinds running in my first floor of body was to know how to apporach
interviews, so in future I can become comfortable while approaching for the
job.

Our final company and
academic project
)
1.) The first project : IPR -- "Controlling two Data logger devices operating
on Masi Bus protocol"
The first project we got was from
Institute for Plasma Research (IPR),
Gandhinagar, the state capital of Gujarat, India. The one of its kind
and funded by Indian Government, it is one of the best place to seek training
or project for a wide range of engineers. The institute is actively engaged
in plasma research. The project was to have the active control of two Data
Loggers (in simple terms which stores data obtained from any physical device,
say temperature controller). In fact we(I and one of my colleagues had
to write a single device drivers in any language either for Windows or Linux,
to control the two data loggers through a single COM port in a computer.
At first analysis the project language if we were gonna to use was either
C or VC++. But as our bad luck would have it, due to some very important and
serious problems in which the commuting was the chief one, we could not continue
the project. The justification was supplied to our Guide there, Sir Mr. Santosh
Dubey (TTP) and our placement head Sir Mr. I.D.Pujara. But I suppose they
should have understood us. If they have not yet, through this web-site let
me again say a Sorry to them from behalf of me and my colleagues.
The project can be at first sight rated to be the best, one of its kind,
challenging, productive, beneficial (to us) and worth doing.
In fact if we had not those problems (primarily commuting) we would
have
definitely done it.
Let me again say "Thanks" to those co-operative people Sir Mr. I.D.Pujara
and Sir Mr. Santosh Dubey (TTP).
Best of luck to IPR.
2.) The second and our final academic project : Zydus Cadila (dialforhealth
India Ltd.) --
"CD Burning Software as DLL"
In fact we (myself and three more guys) also got the second project
from a major pharmaceutical company of India - Zydus Cadila, Ahmedabad, Gujarat.Due
to some or other reasons we finally joined this project.
The first interview seems to be the most notable. We were told to do project
on system side like mentioned above. The main thinking in their mind that
people of engineering caliber should not do projects on web applications primarily
based on HTML, ASP(Registered Trademarks of MicroSoft) etc. or standalone
like MS Visual Basic or Access (Registered Trademarks of MicroSoft).
The narrated their problem. Their main problem was to eliminate the problem
of "
next-next-next" as seen in today's CD Burning Exes'. They wanted
simple click and Go (i.e. Burn) solution, so that they could reduce the training
time of the employee employed to take regular-backups of the company data.
The main purpose of the project was to have a DLL (Dynamic Link Library)
so that they could it in any of their past/present/future applications. The
goal of CD burning was to take regular backups of the company data.
The project started with many dilemmas in the mind and complexities with
no help (as far as we are concerned we had quoted many professionals or companies
but no worth). The project was to be done as :
Platform : Microsoft Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Windows
2003 Server.
Language : Microsoft Visual C++ (any edition)
After many complexities and problems and "no-way" condition, our company
guide helped us. Ultimately the help came in form of Microsoft's IMAPI (Image
Mastering API). Hence we could carry on very smoothly alongwith help from
IMAPI and our guides and project leader. With due considerations from our
guide and leader, the project language was changed to:
Language : Microsoft Visual C++ .NET (Enterprise Architect edition)
and Platform SDK (I/O & COM Shell interface based)
With good gracious help we are now on the verge of completing the project.
However we learned one more important language and had one more skill added
in our baggage of skills.
We are again thankful to our guide Sir Mr. Kamlesh Khatri and Sir Mr. Shailesh.
