I was born on 21st January 1979 in a musical family of South Kolkata. At an early age of 3 years, I was initiated into Indian Classical Vocal Music by Smt. Chandana Chakrabarty, wife of Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty. For a very short while I was under the tutelage of Shree Shantanu Bhattacharya. Thereafter, I joined ITC Sangeet Research Academy, Kolkata and was offered the rare chance of having Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, the doyen of Patiala Gharana, as my Guru. I am continuing as a Scholar of ITC SRA under Guruji’s guidance. I ranked First Class First in Masters in Vocal Music degree examination of 2006 conducted by Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. I accepted the offer of joining as Personal Contact Programme Counsellor under Directorate of Distance Education, Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, in December 2007.
