PRAYER FOR WORLD PEACE

    Almighty Father You have created this beautiful world
    and entrusted it to our care.
    But everywhere we look there is hatred and destruction,
    for evil has poisoned our hearts.

    O God, we beseech Thee, grant us Your mercy, and
    forgiveness.

    As you have forgiven us for our trespasses, give us the
    courage to forgive others who have trespassed against us.

    Through the power of the Holy Spirit, guide us to build a new
    and better world.
    A world of peace with our brothers and sisters.

    Bestow wisdom, courage, and spiritual light
    upon the leaders of the nations
    so that they rule by goodness, honesty, justice
    and respect for the dignity of mankind.

    Inspire them, O Lord, to contribute to the peace and
    prosperity of all peoples in their nations and around
    the world.

    Restore the souls of the forsaken so that their hearts
    be filled with mercy, forgiveness and brotherly love.
    Then we can begin to build bridges for a world of
    peace and goodwill.

    O God, be ever present in times of tribulation, and guide
    us out of the darkness into the light.

    You have redeemed the world in the Blood and Body of
    of your Son, our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ.
    In his name, have mercy on us all.

    In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of
    the Holy Spirit.

    Amen.
