| JESUS CHRIST FOUNTAIN OF LIFE |
| Baptism transcends all nationalities, cultures, classes, and races. Baptism is for every man, woman, and child who believes in God and desires to share in His fellowship, through His only Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. This is the New Covenant - that salvation of sinners can only come through Jesus Christ!!! As Christians, we become as ONE BODY with the Catholic Church, and the whole Christian community. We are all Brothers and Sisters-In-Christ. We share in the priesthood, though we are not priests - we proclaim the wonderful things God has done for us by living Christian lives, and by so doing, inspiring others by our commitment to Christian values. While baptism is performed by priests, the Catholic Church does recognize other forms of baptism, though under exceptional circumstances. For example, Baptism of the Blood is conferred upon those who have suffered death for the sake of Faith, and in cases of absolute necessity, in the absense of a priest, any person can baptise. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church (no. 1256) "....any person, even someone not baptised, can baptise, if he has the required intention. The intention required is to will to do what the Church does when she baptises, and to apply the Trinitarian baptismal formula. The church finds the reason for this possibility in the universal saying will of God and the necessity of Baptism for salvation." Jesus Christ gave himself to be baptised in the Jordan River by John the Baptist, so that He could fulfill all righteousness. Baptism purifies sinners, yet Jesus, who was without sin, obeyed God, according to His will. Jesus commanded his disciples to spread the word of God to all nations, and to baptise in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. The day in which we have been baptised marks the beginning of our life in Jesus Christ - the first day of Eternity. And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is His Son. 1 John 5:11 |
