This sudden stab of anger and pain shot through him, and he cried out, falling to his knees and burying his face in his gloved hands,
"We've failed them,"
But he felt as though he had failed more than just Merry and Pippin.
And the bracers (1) that were still warm around his wrists suddenly felt as though they were burning.
And the pain he felt was magnified by the fact that he had vowed to himself that he would not fail the Hobbits.
That he would not let Boromir die in vain.
