"Len" she said still going through the drawers in the kitchen looking for her keys.
"Dana?" she said in a confused voice "Is that you?"
"Yeah, Look I'm leaving okay and I need you not to tell ma and dad you are the only person I am telling."
"Yeah but Dana, Where are you going?"
"I don't know, I went to the bus station last week and the girl next to me was going to Orlando so I said what the hell, it's far away from him and I just have to start over you know, a clean slate." she took a drink out the glass of water she had fixed while shallowing a pill.
"Do you need anything?"
"I need you to wire me money when I get there" she said as she looked to make sure he was not coming.
"Orlando?" her sister said still in disbelief.
"Yeah"
"Dana we live in L.A, that's to far away"
"I know but...I have to get as far away from him as I can." she said seeing her taxi pulling up. "I can't even find my car keys, he hid them."
"Dana"
"I have to go okay, I'll call you later" She quickly hung up the phone still looking for her keys in hope of sending the taxi back and saving the little money she had. She gave up and raced back into the bedroom and gathered up her pre-packed things. She was very nervous and scared as she packed when he moved a little in the bed she froze praying he wouldn't wake, after he settled she grabbed her purse, bag and suitcase and she walked out the room and then out the front door where she climbed into the taxi.
In the cab she finally felt that she could breath and she also began to cry. That guy was all she knew since she was 15 and she was running away from all that and a life she'd known and hated. Her thoughts were broken when her cell phone ringed and she answered "Len" She said in a hopeful voice.
"Dana please don't leave, please come back home" she heard her now ex-boyfriend from over the phone.
"Justin I can't, things are not the same and they haven't been for a long time and besides I don't love you anymore."
"Dana please"
"Goodbye" she quickly cut him off knowing if he said anymore he could talk her into going back. Before getiing out the taxi she left the cell phone and the ring from her finger right on the taxi seat and she then ran up to the bus station to caught her bus.
Six months later she found herself walking down the aisles of the grocery store. She usually didn't shop so late but she knew she was really in need of food and was sick of eating out. With her sister promising not to tell her parents but told them anyway she had a nice little house that she loved. Living alone was new and scary at first but after everything Justin had put her though she got use to it. She was teaching again at the elementary school not far from her house making decent money so she was doing okay. When grocery shopping she usually got what she needed quick and left, which she had intended to do but she happen to glance around and in the vegatable part she saw this guy. She was still scared of guys because of the way Justin had done her but he seemed different just in the way he carried himself and the way he looked. When she saw him he seemed to be having trouble or he was just annoyed by the bouncing girl next to him. She was nervous and really didn't want to but she decided to go over and help him out.
