"It's so pretty thank you" the person just stood there and so did she finally "Um are you going to reveal yourself?" he nodded no she laughed "Um is is cause you are shy?" he nodded no "Well um thank you for the rose I had a really long night"
He took the hat off and her jaw dropped in utter surprise as she saw him standing before her and he laughed seeing the look on her face.
"Would you like to talk about it?"
"No" she couldn't help but laugh as she said that and he was glad he could make her laugh since she said she'd had a rough night.
"Did I surprise you?
"Yes you did. It's a nice surprise thank you so much" She hugged him and remembering the task she had today she pulled away looking up at him "I'm glad you are here, you can help me today. Help me find a nice small kid friendly puppy"
"Okay can we go get something to eat first though I haven't eaten all day"
"Sure they have a place right here that sells great food"
"Lead the way"
She laughed a little as she walked down the long set of stairs and he followed close behind her and out into the crowded and loud hallways now he walked right beside her and she laughed still surprised he was there "How did you find me?"
"It wasn't hard I um asked some questions, poked around and I found you"
"I know it took a lot to find me here and if you went through all that, that must mean that you like me."
He laughed a little blushing knowing that she was right and a little surprised she had said that "Why do you think I use to sit in that coffee shop every chance I got?"
She laughed "Well I always looked forward to your presence."
"Really?"
"Yeah, I wanted to talk to you so many times but I never had the guts to go over and talk to you cause I ...well....I don't know"
He couldn't help but smile and that was one thing she had already falling in love with about him was his smile as she lead the way into the crowded eating area. They got in line for a sub-sandwich and they joked and talked the whole time in the line and finally after getting their food they went and took a seat in a less crowded area but the window, she sat across from him he looked around and then back at her "This must be the life"
"It is, but getting out of here is going to be better you know, my father bet his friends his drinking buddies that I would not finish college. When I walk across that stage in June I can't wait to see the look on his face also once I graduate my life is going to just fall into place"
"It's not cool your Dad is betting against you but it is cool you are not letting him stop you"
"Thank you, that's so sweet of you I'm going to go get some ice cream I'll be right back"
He nodded okay and ate as she walked off to go get her ice cream she was waiting at the counter when two girls came up behind her she didn't turn but she heard them talking "That's her, the stripper chick"
"How do you know?
"My brother and his friends went to the strip club last night and they saw her and you know the sad part she has a daughter and she does that."
"What a slut? I could never do that"
"She is such a cheap slut cause the guys said she's real good at it listen I bet if we give her a buck she'll show us a good show."
The girls started laughing and she got her order being sure to say thank you she turned and glared at the two girls who stop laughing and she walked off and back to her seat across from him and not speaking she started looking out the window. He had no idea what was going on he looked back and then over at her.
"Are you okay?" She literally didn't hear him cause she was busy thinking about what the girls said "Debra?" she turned looking a him with the saddest eyes he'd ever seen "Are you okay?"
"I'm sorry, I'm okay, Hey can we get out of here"
"Yeah let's go"
He stood up packing his stuff, he was about to remove his hat.
"No keep it on, just until we get outside"
Him yet again confused left the hat on his head as they cleaned the table a little and they put their trash in the trash and she grabbed her things and lead the way out of the side door.
