| What is family? Webster's Elementary Dictionary says this: fam'i.ly n.; pl. families. 1. All the people who live under one head and in one house. 2. All the people who are descended from the same ancestor; a clan or tribe. 3. Descent; especially, noble descent; as, a man of great family. 4. A group of closely related people, as parents and their children. 5. A group of related things; as, a family of languages. 6. A group of related animals or plants ranking above a genus and below an order; as, lions, tigers, and leopards belong to the cat family. |
