Season 8

8.01: "Barney's Sister's Funeral" (1)

In a trilogy episode, Homer, Lenny, Carl and Marge are all ready to attend Barney's sister's funeral back in Florida. However, things begin to go haywire when Marge and Homer can't seem to stand being near eachother at any time. To stop them from wrecking the upcoming funeral, Lenny and Carl attempt to make the two be able to be around eachother, even if they are not together.

8.02: "Barney's Sister's Funeral" (2)

Homer, Lenny, Carl, Marge and Barney have started the road trip to Florida. However, Homer later realises that Barney is having emotional problems and he may not be able to face the facts and go to his sister's funeral. It is up to Homer, Lenny, Carl and Marge to convince him that it is the best thing to do. But, they soon realise that a lot is going to get in their way of doing so.

8.03: "Barney's Sister's Funeral" (3)

The five have all arrived in Florida and are ready to attend the funeral. Barney is shocked to discover that he was expected to write a speech for the funeral, and with the help of Homer and the others, he attempts to write one in time so that he doesn't disappoint his parents. However, he finds it difficult at a time like this. Barney decides to stay in Florida for a while.

8.04: "When Homer Met Barney"

Homer is beginning to miss Barney, who decided to stay in Florida once again (previous episode), and so Marge, Lenny and Carl attempt to help him out. However, nothing works. Flashbacks of the time Homer and Barney met ensue, when they were in Springfield Middle School. Homer had just been transfered there for bad behaviour at Springfield Junior High.

8.05: "Bar Wars: Episode IV"

In the fourth 'Bar Wars' episode, Marge, feeling guilty about breaking up with Lenny, spends the night drinking at Moe's. However, Homer is also drinking there, and the two find themselves fighting over who's doing better ever since the break-up. Moe, with the help of Carl, attempts to control the two to stop them from doing anything too crazy, but it is hard.

8.06: "Sex and the Springfield"

Homer, feeling more depressed than ever about his break-up with Marge, turns to drinking at a sleazy nightclub. There, things hot up with a girl he has recently met, and he awakes the next morning only to discover that he has slept with her. After discovering that Marge wants to get back together with him, he must try all he can to let the secret remain secret.

8.07: "All I Want for Christmas is My House Back"

Christmas has arrived, and Homer, feeling depressed after Marge found out about his fling with a girl at a sleazy nightclub, decides to start gambling. He decides to bet his house, thinking that he can't lose. But he is soon proven wrong. Now, he must convince Marge to let him and his father stay for the holidays. But, to remain there, they must try to get their house back.

8.08: "May the Divorce Be With You"

Barney has returned from Florida, explaining that his parents have gotten a divorce and he couldn't stand being around them any longer. Lenny, Carl and Homer realise just how depressed he has become, and so they attempt to make him feel better. But, after many attempts, they soon realise that it is hopeless. Determined to get his friend back to normal, Homer travels to Florida.

8.09: "Saving Private Simon"

The army experience is back in town (5.02: "The Train and the Glory") and Homer decides to join. But, after discovering that only Springfield High students are allowed to sign up, he decides to take part in a war re-enactment instead. However, he is not sure whether to go through with it when he realises that he is being forced to work together with Simon in this re-enactment.

8.10: "No Farm Done"

Homer takes a trip with his father to the farm where he grew up when he was young. However, they are shocked to discover that a pack of wild animals have taken over the place. Together, they must get the animals out and back onto the fields, so they can rebuild the house which they destroyed. Meanwhile, Marge contemplates forgiving Homer for his mistake, but it is a tough choice.

8.11: "Live and Let Lie"

Marge lies to her parents so that she can go to a rock concert with her friends. However, they soon discover the truth and she is grounded for three weeks. Feeling sorry for Marge, Homer steps in to bust her out, but he ends up getting caught and she is blamed. Angrier than ever, she attempts to find the best possible way of shutting Homer out of her life once and for all.

8.12: "Fission: Impossible"

Homer, needing income because of lack of pay at the burger bar, decides to get a job at the Springfield nuclear power plant, giving the tour for new employees. However, his nosy ways get him into a lot of trouble, and he believes that he has inhaled a poisonous gas after his boss plays a joke on him. Soon, Lenny and Carl discover that Homer's boss was just playing a joke.

8.13: "Clip Show III"

Homer realises that Marge still hasn't forgiven him for sleeping with another girl (8.06: "Sex and the Springfield") and he becomes determined to do whatever it takes to win back his friendship with her, even if they don't become a couple again. After many attempts, he is feeling depressed and he looks back at his relationship with Marge, in the third clip show.

8.14: "Video Story"

For his video club, Lenny must make a documentary on his friends or family. He decides to do one on his friends, and Homer, Barney and Carl are beginning to get fed up with being caught on camera all the time. Angry with constantly being told to leave, Lenny decides to make the documentary more embarassing than ever. However, he is soon ridden with guilt.

8.15: "Guess Who's Coming to College?"

Marge, feeling as if there is nothing left in her life, decides to pack up her things and go to Springfield College. However, her first day turns into a nightmare when she discovers that her timetable has been mixed up with an extremely brainy student's. Meanwhile, Homer is shocked when he hears the news of Marge moving away to college, and he doesn't know what to think.

8.16: "Homer in the Big City"

Homer, Lenny, Carl and Barney decide to take a trip to New York. There, Homer meets up with a large group of gangsters, and he has no choice but to join them. However, all the time spent with the gangsters has changed his personality, and so his friends attempt to get the old Homer back. Meanwhile, Marge has trouble with her new roommate, Amy.

8.17: "Grand Theft Otto"

Homer bumps into an old friend from Springfield Middle School, a guy called Otto. Otto reveals that he is now a driving instructor, and he wants Homer to take a trip with him. However, the trip gets out of hand when they end up getting chased all over town by the cops. Meanwhile, Marge has switched roommates, and she is shocked to discover that Jill has replaced Amy.

8.18: "Homer on Campus"

After realising that Marge may find her true love on campus at Springfield College, he decides to become an undercover student there and keep an eye out on her. However, after she discovers what he is up to, she attempts to get him in trouble. But soon, she is ridden with guilt. Meanwhile, Lenny visits Jill in her dorm room, and they can't conceal their feelings for eachother.

8.19: "Jailhouse Jitters"

Homer becomes determined to stay up all night for a bet, and he turns to coffee to keep himself awake. However, he later finds himself becoming addicted to the caffeine. Whilst taking a walk, high on coffee, a cop is confused and he believes that Homer has been taking illegal drugs. Homer is thrown in prison, and it is up to Lenny, Carl and Barney to form a case to get him out.

8.20: "Sleepless in Springfield"

Homer is having many sleepless nights ever since his break-up with Marge, and so he becomes determined to find a way to help him out. However, after many failed attempts by his friends, he turns to a sleep therapist. Homer is shocked to discover that Marge has done the same. Meanwhile, Lenny has got back together with Jill, but he can't stand all the time she is at college.

8.21: "Teen Radio"

Homer decides to apply for a job on a new radio station called "Teen FM", and he is shocked to discover that he will be competing against Simon for the job. With the help of Barney, he becomes determined to do whatever it takes to impress his boss. Meanwhile, Marge is getting fed up with never being able to study because of all the time Lenny has spent over at the dorm.

8.22: "Love, Barney Gumble Style"

Barney has managed to get himself a new girlfriend, and he is the only one who can see how pushy and self-centred she really is. Homer, Lenny and Carl become determined to prove this. However, they find it difficult after they realise just how seductive she can be. Meanwhile, Marge is invited to a college party and must choose between her reputation or her work. 1
