Season 5

5.01: "Burn, Springfield High, Burn"

Homer is forced to help in a cooking class after being caught performing another prank. He later realises just how unhelpful he can be, and he discovers that he has caused a fire. He later realises that he may face a lawsuit because of this. Meanwhile, Barney discovers that he has a large fear of fire because of the incident, and Lenny and Carl decide to help.

5.02: "The Train and the Glory"

A program called the "Army experience" comes to Springfield High, and Homer decides to join. However, he later realises that he will be facing Marge's ex-boyfriend, Simon, in the final competition. With the help of Barney, he must train, but it soon proves much more difficult than expected. Meanwhile, Lenny is having trouble breaking up with his girlfriend, Jill.

5.03: �The Turkey That Got Away�

Thanksgiving has arrived, and Marge agrees to cook dinner for just her and Homer. However, things go haywire when Lenny, Carl and Barney crash the dinner, and when a live turkey is sent instead of a dead one, Marge flips out. With the help of Lenny, Carl and Barney, Homer attempts to get the turkey, but it is busy causing havoc all over Springfield.

5.04: �The Counselors�

A new group of counselors arrive at Springfield High, and Homer is shocked when he is asked to speak to one of them about his mischievous ways. Angry, he decides to play a trick and fool the school into thinking that he needs a lot more help than they thought. However, it soon backfires and he is forced to have relationship counseling with an angry Marge.

5.05: �Light Club�

Homer manages to convince Marge to come to a senior party with him, and she is feeling nervous. What�s worse is that a large blackout takes place in Springfield. Now, together, everyone attending the party must work together to get themselves home in pitch black. Meanwhile, Lenny finds himself having an intimate moment with his ex-girlfriend Jill.

5.06: �The Difference Between Right and Song�

Homer is kicked out of his band for poor practice attendance, and he is feeling angry. Marge, however, gets the job to write a new song for the band, and Homer asks her to write a terrible one, for his revenge. However, after seeing the error of his ways, he and Marge must get to the place where the song is being performed, and sort everything out.

5.07: �Happy New Fear�

As the new year approaches, Homer begins to notice how weird Marge is acting, and he becomes determined to find out why. However, it is more difficult than he expected. He later realizes that she has had a fear of the new year ever since a certain childhood incident, so he attempts to help her overcome it, but it soon proves difficult. Lenny and Carl help.

5.08: �Fourth Grade�

Bored on a Sunday afternoon, Homer, Marge, Lenny, Carl and Barney decide to sit with each other and reminiscence about their childhood. Homer recalls a time back in the fourth grade when two new transfer students arrived at Springfield Elementary � Lenny and Carl. Friends with both of them, he tried all he possibly could to get them to like each other.

5.09: �The Dondelinger Mockumentary�

Dondelinger is retiring, and Homer and Barney are asked to create a documentary devoted to him. However, they take it too far and the documentary turns out to be the most offensive piece of work ever at Springfield High. Feeling guilty, the two attempt to apologize to Dondelinger before he retires. He later decides to stay in his job after all.

5.10: "Take the Shoes and Run"

Homer decides to run in the upcoming Springfield marathon to prove to Marge that he can do it. However, he panics when he realises that he will be facing Marge's ex-boyfriend, Simon. Stuck on what to do, he asks Barney to help him train before the marathon, but it is proven more difficult than expected. Meanwhile, Lenny and Carl make a racing bet.

5.11: "The Fan Who Came to Dinner"

Marge realises that she has a few fans of her work at Springfield High, and she decides to invite one of them over for dinner with her and Homer. However, she doesn't realise just how obsessed this fan is, and so she attempts to get him out of her house before he causes anymore trouble, but it is difficult. Meanwhile, Lenny considers proposing to Jill.

5.12: "Simon Says"

Homer is caught flirting with another girl by Simon. Homer finds himself forced to see to Simon's every need. However, Homer becomes more and more convinced that Simon is just making everything up. But he soon worries more when he realises that Marge may have gotten involved. Meanwhile, Lenny is still considering proposing to Jill.

5.13: "Homer and Marge Host Sunday School"

Homer and Marge realise just how low they are on cash, and so they decide to find jobs together. They soon realise that the only position left in Springfield is to be Sunday school teachers for children. However, Homer fears he may have wrecked everything after he realises that he knows nothing about God. He soon realises he may be forced to become religious.

5.14: "The Wild Punch"

Homer notices that Barney's drinking problem has developed even further, he attempts to sort everything out. However, he gets angry and he ends up punching Barney in the face. He soon realises that he has ruined his reputation at Springfield High and may have ruined his relationship with Marge. He becomes determined to make it up to Barney, but it is hard.

5.15: "It's a Ring Thing"

Lenny tells Homer, Barney and Marge that he is proposing to Jill in a few days. Homer is honoured to be his best man, but he has trouble picking out a ring. But after finding the perfect one, he is shocked to discover that he has been accused of stealing it. He later realises that Simon may be up to no good again. Meanwhile, Carl worries about Lenny's future.

5.16: "Married... With Lenny"

Lenny has recently proposed to Jill, and she has accepted. However, she shares a secret with Marge, explaining that she is having second thoughts. Marge, however, soon begins to panic about whether Homer will ever propose to her or not. Following from this, Homer freaks out about his relationship again. Meanwhile, Carl overhears Jill's problem.

5.17: "Beat the Parents"

Homer decides to help Lenny after he reveals that he is scared of meeting Jill's parents for the first time. During dinner, a race of who "gets to keep Jill" takes place, and Lenny is beginning to get fed up with compeating with her parents. He attempts to prove that he is, in fact, a nice guy. Meanwhile, Homer recalls the events when he met his first girlfriend's parents.

5.18: "Not Another Teen Move"

Barney finally reveals the real reason he left Florida to return to Springfield (1.13: "The Return of Barney Gumble") - his sister died and he couldn't face being with his parents any longer. Now, he explains that he is ready to see them again, and he will be moving back to Florida. Homer, Lenny, Carl and Marge attempt to make his last days in Springfield a blast.

5.19: "Bar Wars: Episode I"

Homer and Carl are feeling depressed without Barney around, and they turn to Moe's to drink themselves happy. Marge attempts to prove to them that there is another way. However, they feel as if their lives have been turned around when Moe reveals that he is being forced to close down the bar because of competition. A large bar war ensues.

5.20: "Soap and Glory"

Marge notices the lack of art at Springfield High, and she complains to Dondelinger. Action is taken, and a new school acting class is formed. Homer realises that a school soap opera pilot is being filmed, and so he decides to audition for a role. However, he soon realises that he is in trouble with both Marge and the director after discovering that it will be filmed live.

5.21: "Homer vs. Marge and Springfield College"

Homer is shocked to discover that Marge has the option of skipping the rest of high school and going to college immediatly. However, she finds it hard to make her choice. If she goes, she'll have no choice but to break up with Homer. Homer attempts to take action, and much hilarity ensues. Meanwhile, Lenny and Jill decide they want a quick wedding.

5.22: "My Big Fat Freak Wedding" (1)

Lenny and Jill's wedding day has arrived, and Lenny wakes up with a case of cold feet and he freaks out. Homer and Marge attempt to help him out. Marge, however, is busy thinking about her future wedding day, which freaks Homer out. The two manage to scare Lenny, and when they return later that morning, they are shocked to discover that he has done a runner. To be continued in season 6. 1
