| From a very reliable source online (CGEF) we have learned that there may be indeed some hope for Futurama. It appears that Cartoon Network is interested in buying the rights to the reruns of Futurama to be aired on their Adult Swim. Adult Swim is aired on Thursday nights in between the hours of 10:00pm and 2:00am (I believe) and then the same episodes of the shows are aired again during the same hours, but on Sunday. This could mean though that Futurama wouldn't be aired until later in the night. A different audience could generate different results for the show. FOX is in discussion with Cartoon Network right now and hopefully they will work out a good deal. Sine Futurama's last episode will make the 74th episode, that may not be enough to have Futurama syndicated on basic networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, UPN, WB) so a cable network syndication may be the key. Also, Cartoon Network has bought the rights to many other shows such as Home Movies (UPN) and Baby Blues (WB). They aired the reruns and then when they gained an audience and good ratings Cartoon Network gave them funding to make new episodes. This is good hope for Futurama. I will be sure to keep you all posted on any more information. |
