"A Ranger Gone Psycho: Part 1"

It is one year after Terra Venture crashed on the surface of Mirinoi.

The crew and citizens of Terra Venture have managed to salvage most of the

City Dome. They have re-built it into Terra Venture, named after the colony

which brought them to the new world. For the most part, they live in peace

with the Mirinoites, they stay away from the island where Terra Venture is

located.

Setting: Terra Venture - Night

All is quiet in the city. A few people are about, but they are headed

home after a night on the town. After a few moments, they leave and

everything returns to quiet. Suddenly, with a crackling of power, a miniature

transwarp wormhole rips open in the evening sky. Energy arcs from the wormhole,

striking a nearby information console, which erupts into flame. Another

energy arc strikes a nearby power generator, which sputters, then goes

dead. In the next instant, a shadowy figure leaps out and lands on the ground

effortlessly. The shadowy figure turns around and looks up at the

transwarp wormhole as it closes.

Shadowy figure: I’ll need to reconfigure the generator if help is

needed.The shadowy figure takes off and runs off into the night.

Setting: Central Command.

Central Command, the heart of Terra Venture, is deserted and dark, save

for the consoles which blink silently. One of the monitors comes to life

and registers an energy spike. The monitor remains active as it scans for

similar energy spikes.

Setting: Terra Venture - Morning

The morning sun shines bright as it rises over the city of Terra

Venture. The sky is clear blue with a just a few wisps of clouds visible

breaking up the monotony of its vastness. People are walking through the streets,

moving along and performing their everyday tasks. On the sidewalks, some rush

to get to their jobs, while others stroll along the rows of shops and

cafes. A small group of people seem to be gathering around an information

screen, which is displaying an announcement from High Command.

Commander Stanton: Due to an unexplained power surge, the information

consoles in sector 2 will be offline. The power in sector 2 will also

be offline this morning for a duration of 4 hours, as the generator was

also damaged by the unexplained energy spike

At the back of the crowd of people stand Leo and Kai, who are watching

the broadcast.

Leo: Any ideas as to what caused the energy spike?

Kai: No, but I know someone that MIGHT know what happened.

Scene 4: Central Command

Kai and Kendrix are sat on the bridge at the science stations, Kai taps

a few controls and transfers his monitor display to the main view screen.

Kai: Take a look at this.

Kendrix turns and looks at the main view screen, which displays the

energy spike the console detected.

Kai: The sensors detected the power surge last night.

Kendrix: Can it tell us where it came from?

Kai: No, only that it was VERY powerful, it generated a transwarp

wormhole, AND that there was someone who came through the wormhole.

The doors whoosh open and Commander Stanton walks into Central Command.

Stanton: Have you found out anything about the power surge?

Kai(smiling): The SensorNet has recorded it.

Kendrix: AND someone came OUT of the Transwarp wormhole that caused the

energy spike that damaged the colony.

Stanton studies the information on the main view screen.

Stanton: Someone came out? How?

Kendrix: Well, according to this, the wormhole was artificially

generated. Unfortunately, I can’t tell where the wormhole originated. But who ever

came through is somewhere in Terra Venture.

Setting: Terra Venture - Comet Café

The mysterious figure sits in the shadows of a corner at the Come Café.

The only part of the body visible is the gloved hand that grasps the coffee

mug.

Setting: Terra Venture - Comet Café

Kendrix and Maya walk into the café and take a seat at one of the empty

tables. As they wait for the waiter to come, Maya looks around at the

various people in the café and walking past.

Maya: Just think, anyone of these people could have come through the

wormhole. And who knows what they want?

Kendrix: I know, and if they turn hostile, we can’t do anything about

it as we have NO idea WHO they are.

As the waiter takes their order, the mysterious person in the shadows

puts the coffee mug down and remains silent as he watches the two girls.

Maya looks around the café suspiciously.

Kendrix: What is it?

Maya: Something’s wrong. I can sense a… presence. A very powerful

mind….AHHHHH

The Yellow Galaxy Ranger holds her head in pain then collapses to the

floor,unconscious. Kendrix rushes to her side.

Kendrix: Maya, are you ok? MAYA!

Maya remains silent and still.

Setting: Terra Venture Hospital.

The four remaining Galaxy Rangers are gathered around Maya’s bed. She

is hooked up to various life support equipment.

Nurse: A blood vessel burst in her brain, putting her in a coma.

Kai: Can you fix it

Nurse: Unfortunately, the Mirinoite anatomy is somewhat different from

Humans. And since the Mirinoites aren’t as… advanced as us, they don’t

keepmedical records

Kai: Just answer the question, can you heal her? Yes or no?

There is a short but awkward pause.

Nurse: No.

The nurse walks away, leaving the Rangers standing around Maya’s bed.

Kendrix notices something on Maya’s shoulder, and she points to the

marks onher shoulder.

Kendrix: Look at that, they weren’t here before.

The marks look like freshly made claw marks from a large animal.

Leo: Has Maya been in the jungle today? I mean, apart from her village?

Kendrix: No, she’s been with me the whole time.

Leo: Are you sure?

Kendrix: Yes I am sure. We’ve been trying to find outfits for the dance

tonight.

Damon: Those marks on her shoulder look like claw marks, from a lion or

tiger.

Leo: It could have been a monster.

Kai: There’s a Mirinoi legend about something called The Curse of The

Lion.

Leo: Don’t just stand there, tell us about it.

Kai: According to the legend, the Curse of the Lion is said to the

precursorto the return of the Lion Ranger.

Damon: Lion Ranger? Never heard of him.

Kai: I’m not surprised. He was banished from Miranoi 3000 years ago.

Leo: Why?

Kai: According to the legend, it all began with a battle…

Setting: 300 years ago - Mirinoi

Striknging raises both hands, electricity shoots out of his fingers, and

Lion Ranger dives clear as the bolt zaps the ground where he once stood.

From out of the scorched ground emerge a dozen grunting, snarling energy beings.

They bore a resemblance to Strikning, but they had no hands. Instead they

hadenergy blades.

Strikning: From this moment forth, the planet Mirinoi and the Quasar

Sabres will BELONG TO ME.

Strikning raises his arms, thunder crackles and lightning rips across

the sky.

Strikning: Welcome to my nightmare, Lion Ranger.

An explosion of lightning consumes Strikning and he teleports away.

Before Lion Ranger can react, the StrikeMites attack. Lion Ranger gets off a

stellar cross-hock takedown on one StrikeMite, delivers a world class

heelstomp to another, then executes a lethal reverse hand sword on another.

Lion Ranger: Ok, I’ve had enough of this. FIRE SABRE!

He brings his hands together. A massive flame erupts up from his hands

andthe Fire Sabre appears. With the formation’s energy still gleaming,

LionRanger charges at the StrikeMites. He swings the sabre upwards, taking

outthree StrikeMites, leaving seven of the energy creatures.

Lion Ranger: Ok, your turn.

Scene 8: Mirinoite Village

Strikning shoots energy blasts as he enters the village. They hit

several huts, setting them ablaze instantly.

Strikning: I have come for the jewels and gold that you have, and I

SHALLget them.

Several Miranites try to stand up to Strikning, but he shoots them with

energy blasts, killing them instantly.

Strikning: This is your last chance, SAVAGES. Give me the gold and

jewels orI’ll burn you all to ASHES.

Before anyone can reply, a powerful jet of flame slams into Strikning,

knocking him to the ground. He gets up and sees Lion Ranger standing in

front of the rock containing the Quasar Sabres. A small flame is

burningfrom the tip of the Fire Sabre.

Lion Ranger: You don’t know when to give up, do you?

Strikning roars in anger and charges at the Lion Ranger, who quickly

sidesteps and grabs Strikning’s head.

Lion Ranger: Ok ugly, if you want the Quasar Sabres, then you can have

them.

He repeatedly slams Strikning’s head into the stone.

Lion Ranger: Perhaps they need a magic word to release them *slam*

please*slam* pretty please *slam* now *slam* open sesame. *slam*

Lion ranger throws Strikning backwards, away from the Sabres. He

crashes down in a shower of sparks, but he quickly gets up and grabs a nearby

Mirinoite girl.

Strikning: Either you power down and give me what I WANT, or I kill

thislittle WENCH.

Lion Ranger: I don’t respond well to THREATS.

Strikning(smiling): That wasn’t a threat, it’s a promise.

Lion Ranger: Let her go, and I’ll kill you quickly.

Strikning tightens his grip on the young girl.

Strikning: I warned you, now you pay the price for your defiance.

Strikning twists his hand, snapping the girls neck. He opens his hand

and she drops to the floor, like a puppet with its strings cut.

Strikning: Blame not ME for her death, but the Lion Ranger. He is to

blame.I wanted mere gold and jewels.

The Mirinoites begin shouting and throwing things at Lion Ranger.

Strikning: Yes, HE IS THE ONE to BLAME. I only wanted jewels and gold.

He refused, costing the young girl her LIFE.

Lion Ranger takes a step back, away from the crowd of angry Mirinoites.

Lion Ranger: Wait, I didn’t kill her…

His words fall on deaf ears as the Mirinoites advance forward,

Strikning blows Lion Ranger a kiss before he teleports away.

Mirinoite Elder: Lion Ranger, you have caused the death of an innocent

life, therefore you are hereby banished from Mirinoi

Lion Ranger: Please, let me explain…

Mirinoite Elder: SILENCE, you are no longer welcome here.

Lion Ranger pushes past the Mirinoites and stands in the center of the

village.

Lion Ranger: After all the years I’ve spent defending this planet, you

refuse to hear me out and now you UNGRATEFUL SAVAGES have

BANISHED ME.Evenif it takes me 3000 years, I’ll be back, then I’ll exact

my revenge on you ALL.

The Mirinoites throw rocks at Lion Ranger, shouting abuse at him.

Lion Ranger(to village elder): The mark of the lion will appear on all

of your children, and your descendants, they will all die painfully. When

the claw of the Lion shows itself upon the yellow one, you will all know

that Iwill be about to return and exact my vengeance upon this mud ball of a

world.

With a roar of a lion, Lion Ranger teleports away.

Setting: Terra Venture Hospital

Kai has just finished telling the legend of the Curse Of the Lion

Ranger.

Kai: And that’s the whole story…

Kendrix looks at the claw marks on Maya’s shoulder.

Kendrix: ‘When the claw of the Lion shows itself upon the yellow one’.

Guys, the claw marks on Maya’s shoulder: the Lion Ranger is about to return.

Leo: The yellow one, it could mean the Yellow Ranger. And if the Lion

Ranger IS about to return, then we have to be on our guard.

Damon: Then the wormhole was the Lion Ranger arriving.

Kendrix walks to the window and looks out at Terra Venture. She watches

the people going about their business.

Kendrix: And he could be anyone on Terra Venture, and anywhere.

Setting: Unknown

The mysterious figure walks along the back streets of Terra Venture,

always remaining in the shadows.

Mysterious Figure: With the Mirinoite savage out of the way, the

Rangers won’t be able to form their MegaZord. My vengeance will soon come to

fruition.

With a roar of a lion, the mysterious figure teleports away.
