                                                OPTION Method

Using the OPTION method to figure out what to do when you get your girlfriend pregnant.

Options: You have three main options available to you. You can keep the baby and raise it, you can have an abortion, or put the baby up to adoption.  Keep in mind you should make this decision together.

Prayer:  You have to pray to God for guidance in how you and your girlfriend should choose to handle having a baby. Which ones do you think God will approve of?

Testing:  You have to weigh each decision against your moral standards. The main option that may raise a red flag during this step is abortion. You have to decide with yourself whether having an abortion is morally acceptable to you. If you decide to keep the baby and raise it you have to deal with how it will affect both your lives especially your education. If you choose adoption you have to be sure that both of you are OK with giving the baby up after becoming attached to it for 9 months.

Information: You should consult other people to help you make this decision. Some good choices would be your parents as they know what it is like to raise a child and will only try to help you as you struggle through this. Another choice for consultation is a trusted priest as they can help you make the best moral choice in the situation.

Obligations: There are two main obligations to consider when making a decision. One of them is your obligation to school and work, keeping the baby can take up a lot of time and money and can hinder both of your education continuation. It also costs a lot of money which you will need to be responsible for.

New Options: There aren’t many new options that are possible other than the three listed before.
