Jesus, Model of Faith, Model of Full Humanity

Jesus was just as human as any of us. He faced the same problems we all face in our lives. He faced temptation when he went out in the desert, and as O’Malley said he didn’t go through theses temptations as some perfect person immune to temptation, or as O’Malley puts it “bulletproof”. Instead we have to realize that he was genuinely tempted and had to really wrestle with these temptations. We also see his humanness when he gets angry at the temple where vendors are selling their wares and he throws them all out in a fury. I’m sure we can see his humanness in this as we can all relate with getting angry at something and having an outburst.

Jesus was a kind person and is described as compassionate in the John’s Gospel when he sees the widow crying when her son dies. This is just one of many examples that show his compassion for people. This is why so many people were attracted to him, they could relate to him because he had their same problems but he was compassionate and cared for everyone. He was also a revolutionary in terms of his teachings, he would often say the last will be first and the first will be last, or something with that meaning.
