The key idea of the section is
Catholic faith. It is explained in great depth in this chapter. We learn that
Faith takes many things on our part. We must go periods of doubt and struggle,
we must constantly make decisions, we have to take risks and we have a loving
trust. We also learned what exactly faith is. It is graces from God; it is our
free human response to accept God’s grace. Faith is certain; we can make
decisions based on our Faith. Faith
seeks understanding, with it we want to get closer to God so we can know him
and love him more. Lastly Faith is a virtue, it
involves justice, prudence, fortitude, and temperance.
1.
One of the most
important things I want to remember is that knowing
what to do can be extremely difficult when comes to making Faith decisions. A
perfect example of this is in the The
Mission where the Jesuits have to decide between fighting against the
Spanish and Portuguese, or remaining peaceful non
combatants.
2.
Another thing I want
to remember is the movie The Mission. This is a
great movie and I highly recommend it to everyone. It shows not only the
historical events of the Jesuits trying to save a whole culture, but it shows
how Faith can change your life and how hard it can be to decide what to do to
follow your Faith when faced with difficult decisions.
3.
I also want to
remember that Faith involves periods of doubt and struggle and that it takes
risk. Remembering that these things are part of Faith can help me get through
them knowing that almost everyone else experiences these things when growing in
their Faith.

One
good question: Who was right about their decision to defend or not to defend
the Indians using force Fr. Mendoza or Fr. Gabriel? Is there even a right
answer?
I
should try to be more les radical about my Faith. I’m no Fanatic or anything
but I can think of plenty of times when I just believe something because I’m
told it by an authority figure. I should try to find evidence in my beliefs and
question the ones I’m not sure about.
