The major idea of this section is the things that challenge our faith. It includes what positive atheists such as Nietzsche say, such as moral relativism, and practical atheists such as Hobbes who also believed in morale relativism and also that human beings were no different from other animals.  It also talks about how science and th church are related and uses a child parent metaphor to explain it.

1.      One thing I want to remember from this lesson is the movie Merchants of Cool. It was very recent which is very nice and it clearly showed in detail how the advertisers try to get to us and learn how teens think

2.      Another thing I want to remember is the Andy Griffith episode we watched. It was a clear showing of an example where faith in someone can play into our lives

3.      A third thing I want to remember is the way the history between the church and science was described. It is very easy to understand when it is explained by comparing it to the stages of a child’s life and his relationship with his parents. The early unquestioning following of his parents, then the rebelling teen stage then the reflective unity of adulthood together

One good question I want to keep with me: Am I affected by media and advertising, and if I am do I know it?

One thing I want to do to make me a better person is to be able to realize when the media is affecting me. From Merchants of Cool I saw how much they try to get into our heads and try to make us do the things they want. I’d like to be able to realize when they are getting to me and be able to make decisions without their influence
