| In order to run Ultrabac in full GUI mode from a CD, a bootable version of Windows XP can be created using the freely available Windows XP embedded evaluation kit. Add a trial version of Ultrabac, and a couple of extra Compaq drivers, and voila - bootable XP with Ultrabac, or as the splash screen calls it "Ultrabac XP". All respective rights acknowledged. This CD will allow you to restore to *any* new Compaq server as it loads the *full graphical version* of Ultrabac 7, with full device support. I have withdrawn the CD image for now. You can contact me for further details. Can't have been all that bad though, as Ultrabac announced this month (Aug 2003) that they are releasing UBDR Pro. Guess what that is? Its a bootable CD which uses "Windows technology" to run the GUI version of Ultrabac - Gee - that's a good idea, eh? You saw it here first... No doubt UBDR Pro will come with a price. If you want to do the same for free, I will soon release my documentation on how to create the same functionality with the XP evaluation kit. Mail me for further details. Mark. |
