| Mon 25.02.02 - Spent most of the day on the beach (the one in the picture above). In the evening we went to the library. Imagine were in Hawaii and we went to the library!!! Tues 26.02 - John the dodgy guy in the room, packed all his stuff and was gone at 7am. We went on tour of the island. Wed 27.02 - I got news from home that meant we would have to cut short our trip and miss out on San Francisco and New York. I spent 2 hours on the phone to airlines to pull forward all our flights. Went to the beach. This would probably bethe last time for the forseeable future Thurs 28.02 - Up at 8am. Chatted to Trevor from Slaughtmanus after breakfast. Got bus to airport at 10.45am. We queued for 1 hour to check in. Loads of security checks due to Sept 11th. Flight departed at 2pm (local time). It was a small American Airlines 737. It was shit cramped and we were beside the toilets. I hate that airline. Arrived in San Francisco at 10pm (SF time) after 5 hour flight. Rang hotel but got Hilton bus by mistake. Stayed in Holiday Inn. Beautiful room. Slept from 12 midnight to 4.15am. Fri 01.03 - Up at 4.15am. Got bus back to airport. lady at checkin very funny. Bought cookies from her!! Flight to New York JFK Airport departed at 7am. We managed to catch a glimpse of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate bridge from the plane during take off. It was a United Airlines flight and there were loads of free seats so I lay across 4 of them! I managed to get a couple of hours sleep. Arrived in JFK at 3pm (NY Time). In JFK I saw someone I thought I recognised. I asked him how I knew him, and he said that he was lead singer for an 80's band called The Special's. Theyre from Coventry. I dont really know them. The flight from JFK to Heathrow departed at 6pm and took 7 hours. Neither Claire or I managed to sleep at all on the flight. Sat 02.03 - Arrived in Heathrow at 6am (local time). We had to wait until 10.45am for our flight to Dublin. The flight to Dublin was uneventful. Collected our bags and got our hands on a few Euros for the first time. Caught the bus to Ballinasloe.
